Job Description

J.P. Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) is seeking a Sydney-based Vice President, Investment Specialist – Natural Capital, with a dual mandate spanning institutional fundraising and hands-on deal execution across timberland and broader natural capital strategies. Within Natural Capital, JPMAM oversees US$10.9B of assets under supervision across approximately 1.5 million acres (600,000 hectares), supported by more than four decades of experience investing in and managing sustainable forests—creating value through dynamic approaches and innovative thinking.

As a Vice President Investment Specialist in the Investment Specialist Team, you will serve as a senior, client-facing specialist responsible for capital raising and investor engagement for natural capital strategies, while also playing a primary role in underwriting and execution of transactions. You will lead investor presentations, due diligence meetings, and ongoing education sessions, translating complex forestry and natural capital topics into clear, credible messaging for sophisticated institutional audiences. On the deal side, you will drive screening, valuation, underwriting, and investment committee materials, ensuring modeling assumptions align with operational realities and market data. You will coordinate multi-disciplinary due diligence and synthesize findings into actionable recommendations. You will support negotiation and structuring discussions in collaboration with deal leads and legal counsel, while managing timelines, risks, and stakeholder alignment. You will also partner with portfolio management and product teams to produce investor reporting and consistent global marketing materials, strengthening connectivity between fundraising priorities and the investable pipeline.

Job responsibilities

  • Support and drive institutional fundraising for natural capital strategies across a global investor base.

  • Lead preparation and delivery of presentations, due diligence meetings, and investor education sessions.

  • Translate technical topics (operations, markets, valuation, carbon/natural capital attributes, risk) into investor-ready messaging.

  • Lead or coordinate transaction workstreams from screening through closing, including IC materials and process management.

  • Oversee financial model inputs (DCF, scenarios/sensitivities, downside cases) and validate assumptions against real-world drivers.

  • Coordinate cross-functional due diligence (commercial, operational, ESG, legal, tax, environmental, technical) and synthesize conclusions.

  • Support negotiation of key commercial terms and contribute to structuring discussions (vehicles, co-investments, governance, fees, side letters).

  • Uphold investment process, approvals, documentation standards, and compliance requirements; mentor junior team members on deliverable quality.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Forestry, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of relevant experience spanning institutional client-facing fundraising and transaction execution.

  • Background in real assets/private markets fundraising and product specialist roles and/or direct deal execution (e.g., investment banking, PE/infrastructure, real assets investing, acquisitions).

  • Demonstrated ability to lead investor conversations with senior institutional stakeholders.

  • Ability to create and deliver polished, credible presentations and written materials for sophisticated audiences.

  • Strong underwriting and valuation capability, including comfort with key diligence workstreams.

  • Familiarity with biological growth drivers, harvest scheduling, wood products markets, land valuation, and operating models.

  • Strong PowerPoint skills with high standards for narrative and output quality.

  • Excellent writing and project-management skills with strong judgment and attention to detail.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and time zones.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • MBA, CFA, CAIA (preferred).

  • Understanding of carbon markets and how nature/biodiversity themes intersect with land-based investing.

  • Advanced Excel modeling skills (including DCF and scenario/sensitivity analysis).
