As an Investment Specialist in the team, you will serve as the primary business partner to the investment team, acting as the bridge between portfolio management, client-facing teams, and investors. You will support business development, client retention, product strategy, and investment communications for Equity and Multi-Asset strategies in Japan. The role requires strong investment knowledge, client engagement capabilities, and the ability to communicate portfolio insights to a wide range of audiences.
Job Responsibilities
- Partner with Portfolio Managers and global Investment Specialists to develop and execute business, product, and distribution strategies for Equity and Multi-Asset investment solutions in Japan.
- Serve as the primary representative of investment strategies to internal and external stakeholders, including institutional investors, intermediaries, and distribution partners.
- Partner with Client Advisors to support business development activities, including client presentations, conferences, roadshows, seminars, and training events.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and prospects by providing investment insights, portfolio positioning updates, and market commentary.
- Conduct quarterly and annual investment reviews and ensure clients receive timely, accurate, and relevant portfolio information.
- Coordinate the onboarding and implementation of new institutional and sub-advised mandates, working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless client experience.
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of portfolio reports, fund commentaries, and performance-related materials in partnership with investment, product, and reporting teams.
- Collaborate with sales and distribution teams to identify commercial opportunities, develop tactical business plans, and support long-term growth objectives.
- Support product development initiatives, competitive analysis, and strategic projects that enhance investment capabilities and client outcomes.
- Maintain the highest standards of fiduciary responsibility, risk management, and regulatory compliance in all client and business activities.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Extensive experience in investment management, investment advisory, product strategy, or related investment functions.
- Strong knowledge of Multi-Asset strategies, or deep expertise in a single asset class with a demonstrated interest in expanding into Multi-Asset investing.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage audiences ranging from investment professionals to less experienced investors.
- Strong client-facing skills and the ability to build credibility and trust with clients, portfolio managers, and business partners.
- Demonstrated ability to operate with integrity, sound judgment, and a fiduciary mindset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency with Bloomberg, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Fluency in Japanese and English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Experience as an Investment Specialist, Product Manager, Investment Consultant, Portfolio Manager, or in a related investment-facing role.
- Experience supporting institutional and intermediary client relationships.
- CFA designation or equivalent professional investment qualification.
- Programming or data-analysis capabilities, including Python, are a plus.
- Experience leveraging data, automation, or AI-enabled tools to enhance investment analysis, client engagement, reporting processes, or business efficiency.
- Strong interest in emerging technologies and their application within the asset management industry.
