SALARY
$25.02 - $31.27Under general supervision, this position is responsible for performing survey of water and sanitary sewer assets using high accuracy global position system (GPS) equipment, collecting and reviewing Closed-circuit television (CCTV) video of sanitary sewers, perform cleaning of sanitary sewer mains, and installing and maintaining system pressure recorders and manhole level monitoring devices.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Will perform field survey of water and sanitary sewer assets using high accuracy global positioning system (GPS) equipment and processing collected data to update asset records in GIS.
Collects and review CCTV video of sanitary sewer mains and provide recommendations for acceptance or further action.
Performs cleaning of sanitary sewer mains using a combination jet/vacuum truck.
Will install, remove and maintain system pressure recorders and sanitary sewer manhole level monitors. Review and report on status of devices and collected data.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Conducts manhole condition assessments utilizing scanning device and perform fire hydrant flow tests.
Will evaluate collected results and provide recommendations for acceptance or further action.
Additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of the principles of operation water mains, sanitary sewer mains, water valves, water meters, manholes, services, cleanouts, fire hydrants, and appurtenances.
Knowledge of basic sanitary aseptic precautions and practices, which must be followed when working with and around untreated wastewater.
Knowledge of personal computers and basic PC software, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Knowledge of Cartegraph work order management software.
Skill in communicating with other City employees and the public by oral and written means.
Skill in verifying positional accuracy.
Skill in reading and interpreting paving, drainage, water and sewer construction plans, plats, easement documents, and city maps.
Ability to use and maintain a variety of sophisticated equipment including but not limited to GPS unit, system pressure recorders, manhole level monitors, hydrant flow test and manhole scanning devices.
Ability to interpret and discuss water and sewer infrastructure attribute data.
Ability to read and interpret manuals, maps, drawings, legal descriptions, plats and blueprints.
Ability to schedule various overlapping projects.
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
Ability to solve problems by analyzing data.
Ability to work independently, perform research and work on varied projects.
Ability to perform various physical movements including but not limited to, seeing, carrying, crawling, dragging, lifting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting body, pulling, pushing, walking and writing.
Ability to work in an outdoor environment subject to dust, fumes, mechanical, and/or explosive hazards.
Ability to work in inclement weather and extreme temperatures.
Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent up to 90 lbs.
Ability to use a variety of hand-held or power tools.
Ability to operate a variety of office equipment (i.e. PC, telephone, fax machine and various copiers)
Qualifying Education and Experience:
High School diploma
Five (5) years of field experience working with both water distribution and wastewater collection systems
Possession of or ability to obtain a Class C water distribution license within a 6-month probationary period.
Possession of or ability to obtain Class II wastewater collections license within 6-month probationary period.
Possession or ability to obtain NASSCO certification within 6-month probationary period.
Possession of a valid Class C Texas Driver’s License.
