In this role, you'll:
Work as part of a team providing operational asset assurance including asset stewardship, technical assurance, asset planning, and lifecycle optimisation across Transport for NSW’s operational asset portfolio.
You will provide technical assurance and asset performance oversight across bus fleets and depot infrastructure, including vehicles, depot facilities, and supporting operational technologies.
Operating within a complex, high-volume operational environment, you will ensure assets maintained by operators meet required standards for safety, reliability and performance.
You will apply systems thinking to understand how fleet, depot infrastructure and supporting systems interact, ensuring technical assurance supports safe and reliable service delivery.
Your day to day will involve:
• Analysis of asset condition, reliability and performance data to support risk-based decision making
• Supporting the implementation of technical assurance frameworks with operators, ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements
• Providing technical input into Asset and Services Plans (ASPs) and lifecycle strategies
• Working with operators and maintainers to ensure maintenance practices and performance outcomes meet contractual and technical expectations
• Conducting fleet inspections to assure asset condition and roadworthiness
• Reviewing technical documentation, maintenance plans and specifications to ensure they are fit-for-purpose
• Supporting assurance of engineering changes, fleet upgrades and depot modifications
• Supporting investigation and resolution of fleet and depot performance issues
• Collaborating across asset managers, engineers and contract teams in a matrix environment
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to uplift asset performance and assurance outcomes

About you
You are a capable technical advisor with experience in fleet and depot asset environments, with a strong focus on asset performance, assurance and lifecycle outcomes.
You are comfortable providing technical advice across fleet operations and supporting infrastructure, and have experience supporting asset strategies, maintenance planning, and continuous improvement across operational asset environments.
You bring:
• Experience working with bus fleets, heavy vehicles, or similar operational assets in a technical assurance or asset performance role
• Experience in emerging fleet technologies, including electric buses and charging infrastructure
• Strong understanding of asset performance, reliability and lifecycle management for fleet and depot assets
• Knowledge of technical assurance, engineering governance and regulatory compliance in an operational environment
• Strong working knowledge of the Heavy Vehicle National Law
• Heavy Vehicle Authorised Examiner accreditation or the ability to obtain
• Ability to interpret technical data and translate it into risk-based insights and decisions
• Experience working across multiple stakeholders in an outsourced delivery environment
• Confidence to challenge technical outcomes and influence decisions
• Relevant engineering qualification and or substantial bus asset management operational experience
