Job Description

We’re BDO, a global professional services firm connected to local markets. Our people work together to provide specialist expertise, helping businesses achieve their goals.

We inspire others, to go further. We create together, to reach higher. We build trust, to lead purposefully.

Whether you're building your future or starting your career with us, you won’t do it alone. From creating solutions for our clients to building careers for our people, we shape what matters, and that’s where you come in.

About the Role

As BDO Australia’s Asset & Configuration Lead, you will own and uplift our IT Asset Management (ITAM) and Configuration Management practices, ensuring the ServiceNow CMDB is accurate, trusted and relationship‑mapped. This role underpins effective Incident, Change, Problem, Request and Major Incident Management, providing a strong data foundation for operational resilience, risk management and informed decision‑making across the firm.

About the Team

You will join BDO’s IT Services function as part of the Service Management Office (SMO). Working closely with the Service Performance Manager, you will collaborate with ServiceNow development, Change & Release, Cloud Operations and Engineering, Workplace Experience, Security, Integrations and Data teams to uplift service management maturity and modernise foundational ITSM capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own governance of the CMDB and Common Service Data Model (CSDM), including CI classes, attributes, relationships, lifecycle states and service mapping principles

  • Define and enforce data quality standards, naming and tagging conventions, reconciliation rules, KPIs and health dashboards

  • Lead the CMDB and CSDM maturity roadmap aligned to ITIL v4 best practice

  • Partner with the ServiceNow Developer to govern Discovery coverage, CMDB enhancements and automation

  • Drive audits, remediation and continuous improvement across cloud, network, EUC, applications, SaaS and data platforms

  • Support risk management and audit readiness, including ISO27001 evidence and reporting

About You

  • Proven experience owning or leading a CMDB and Configuration Management practice in a medium to large organisation

  • Strong hands‑on knowledge of ServiceNow CMDB and CSDM, with exposure to Discovery, reconciliation and normalisation

  • Deep understanding of service mapping, CI modelling and multi‑domain dependency management

  • Demonstrated ability to uplift data quality, lifecycle governance and ITSM maturity

  • ITIL v4 Foundation certification (ServiceNow or CMDB/ITAM certifications highly regarded)

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex concepts for non‑technical stakeholders

  • Collaborative, governance‑focused and confident influencing diverse technical teams
