Job Description

The Assembly Technician is responsible for the assembly, installation, maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment, machinery, tooling, and production systems. This role supports plant operations by ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and maintaining safe and efficient manufacturing processes. The technician will work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to support operational excellence and achieve business objectives.

This is a full time onsite role based in Southend site

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation of manufacturing equipment and interpret technical drawings and assembly instructions.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on equipment, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and basic electrical faults.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures to identify root causes and implement corrective actions while replacing defective components.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns promptly and collaborate with production teams to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Adhere to safety policies and maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices.
  • Accurately document maintenance records, report recurring issues, and support spare parts inventory management.

Key skills and qualifications

  • Technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or related field.
  • Experience in automated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and automated production systems.
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
