Job Description

What you’ll do:

1. Managing and implementing reliable and effective manufacturing processes in line with process documents, maintaining and supporting manufacturing processes and equipment that assure capable and reliable production of quality parts, providing guidance on manufacturing issues.
2. Direct and coordinate production activities with other supporting groups, and supervisory personnel, to ensure optimum operating and production objectives consistent with quality assurance requirements.

Critical Outputs:

1. Production planning, scheduling and implementation.
2. Provide technical leadership and solutions.
3. Conduct investigation and research on production and quality issues.
4. Maintain and update process documentation in line with QMS.
5. Establish part processing and implement processing and assembly of product to ensure the highest quality at the optimum production rate and the most economical cost.
6. Review daily issues and processes for proper utilization of machines.
7. Continually evaluate safety, ergonomics, productivity, and quality and improve process.
8. Initiate and implement tool, fixture, and part changes to improve product quality.
9. Maintain all jigs, fixtures, and tools in line with process and system requirements.
10. Provide support for assembly set-ups and operate training.
11. Trouble-shoot in production departments to minimize down-time.
12. Recommend and assist in establishing and maintaining budgets, manpower and equipment requirements and methods for handling scrap and rework
13. Provide and implement training that will enable personnel to better perform their departmental functions.
14. Implement and coordinate established maintenance controls to see that they are followed as they relate to physical plant and production operation.
15. Implement SPC programs on shop floor to ensure consistent quality and continuous product improvements.
16. Furnish emergency tooling or alternate methods to support production.
17. Edit programs as needed for equipment to meet part specifications.
18. Participate & evaluate new equipment run-off and current equipment performance using SPC.
19. Quality improvement and scrap reduction
20. Cost reduction: production and tooling costs, set-up reduction
21. Coordination of manufacturing process development, support, and training
Essential Functions:

1. Read, comprehend and apply Company policies and procedures.
2. Apply knowledge of processed/finished part prints, process sheets.
3. Apply knowledge of gages and check fixtures.
4. Apply knowledge of statistical quality control and quality control techniques
5. Apply manufacturing processes, product knowledge, part flow and alternative processing methods.
6. Apply problem-solving skills.
7. Apply team concepts and facilitate teamwork with Management Team.
8. Apply oral and written communication skills.
9. Apply knowledge of plant computer systems
10. Apply machine knowledge (programming, tooling and set-ups)
11. Apply business knowledge and practices.
12. Apply technical knowledge of production/materials planning and systems application
13. Apply financial knowledge for analysis and justification.
14. Apply leadership principles.
15. Practice communications concepts (individuals and groups)

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineering with 3-5 years’ experience or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 5-7 years experience in a manufacturing environment working with Transmission Assembly Line equipment

Skills:

Knowledge in the areas of manufacturing processes (Assembly), statistical quality control and quality assurance, production/materials planning and systems.
