Salary: £44,907+ depending on experience

As Assembly Build Line Support, you will be focussing on delivering frontline (at-elbow/Andon) engineering support, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant manufacture of aircraft structures.

Core duties:

  • Providing at-elbow (Andon) support across manufacturing, for F-35 Aft and Empennage units
  • Resolving build queries and manufacturing issues in real time
  • Liaising closely with Operators, Inspectors, Supervisors, and Team Leaders to ensure production continuity
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Logistics, Quality, and Design Engineering
  • Interpreting and communicating engineering data, drawings, and build instructions clearly to operations teams
  • Managing and dispositioning Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and develop and implement:
    • Containment instructions
    • Recovery/workaround plans
    • Root cause and corrective actions

Essential Skills:

  • HNC level, completion of a Craft/Technician Apprenticeship or equivalent experience, with relevant Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Ability to interpret: Engineering drawings and design-released data and programme specifications
  • Familiarity with industry toolsets such as SAP, CATIA, and PDM
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

The 430 Assembly Build Line Support (BLS) Manufacturing Engineering team

The S430 Assembly Build Line Support (BLS) Manufacturing Engineering team is responsible for supporting Production Operations in the manufacture of the F-35 Lightning II Aft Fuselage and Horizontal and Vertical Tail assemblies, prior to delivery to Lockheed Martin for final assembly.

The team provides comprehensive support across all Assembly areas, including Aft and Empennage Integrated Assembly Lines, Equipping, Finals, and shared service areas such as Station 0 (detail parts and sub-assemblies), the 430 Spray Facility, and the in-house Machining Facility.
