Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking an Assembler Team Lead to join the 787 Aft Body Pre Join Team located in North Charleston, South Carolina for Variable Shift
Position Responsibilities:
Performs complex production assembly operations on structural parts, mechanical assemblies, subassemblies and aircraft systems, equipment and accessories using manual or automated assembly tools
Performs routine production assembly operations on structural parts, mechanical assemblies, sub-assemblies and equipment and accessories using manual or automated assembly tools
Models a culture of One Team, Pride and Ownership
Partners with Integrated Build Teams (IBTs) and Team Leader to mitigate performance risk utilizing Systematic Problem Solving (SPS) methodologies
Identifies roadblocks and production constraints escalating issues which cannot be resolved by the team using open and clear communication
Uses KPI and BPS principles to improve production flow and work environment
Supports overtime as required to meet customer commitments
Participates in Lean Manufacturing Systems (LMS) and 5S activities
Supports teammates to improve overall team performance by providing cross training and mentoring
Work in assigned manufacturing production department to learn and perform a variety of manual and automated operations including drilling and fastener installation on a variety of detail parts (aluminum/composite/titanium) while working from electronic models, manufacturing specifications, procedures, and instructions
Performs complex production assembly operations on structural parts, mechanical assemblies, subassemblies and aircraft systems, equipment and accessories using manual or automated assembly tools
Builds effective resource plans
Identifies and communicates risks to First Line Leader
Updates and communicates BPS metrics
Identifies KPI improvement actions
Assigns daily work
Leads team in daily safety check-in
Monitors and reports daily progress to plan
Works with support organizations and First Line Leader to mitigate performance risk
Documents and communicates shift turnover
Establishes overtime requirements and staffing
Responsible for monitor and control of 5S
Utilizes Rapid Problem Solving (RPS) and coordinates with Line Side Control Center (LSCC) to address issues
Creates standardized work instructions
Support teammates to improve their job performance, including identifying training
Responsible for BPS process improvements
Leads Kamishibai audits and Gemba walks
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at North Charleston, SC (BSC)

Aerospace Technician and Mechanic Aptitude Virtual Job Tryout: To be considered for this position you will be required to complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
3+ years of experience in assembly work, fabrication, aerospace
1+ year of experience with operations process involving the 787-airplane program
1+ year of experience demonstrating formal or informal leadership skills
Availability to work variable shifts, with the understanding that your assigned shift will not be confirmed until after training
Preferred Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
787 leadership experience
