Essential Job Functions:

  1. Follow standard operating procedures as well as written and verbal orders and instructions in English.
  2. Lift up to 40 lbs. and be in good physical condition. Standing, bending, climbing, crawling, and lying on hard surfaces as well as upper body and back strength required.
  3. Follow all company policies and procedures as stated in the company policy and safety manual including wearing safety glasses, safety toed footwear, hardhats, and other required PPE per area.
  4. Able to work in a noisy environment.
  5. Work overtime as needed.
  6. Actively pursue cost reduction measures.
  7. Perform all assigned tasks within specific time limits and company standards.
  8. Must be able to read a tape measure.
  9. Must comply with all safety regulations regarding the work area, the product and equipment. Recognize and report all safety discrepancies to your supervisor.
  10. Willing to develop a thorough knowledge of all aspects of this field including products, options, & uses.
  11. Ability to learn how to read and understand simple blue prints.
  12. Ability & willingness to be cross-trained in respective departments.
  13. Able to learn about parts and where they are used as well as the number required per assigned task.
  14. Communicate with department leaders when items run low in order to restock/reorder parts.
  15. Possess some prior experience from outside of the company or has mastered all the required skills at the previous level in order to advance.
  16. Willingness to share department and company knowledge as needed.
  17. Ability to write down information for future reference.

Daily Functions:

  1. Assemble and adjust parts using end wrenches, power drills, power drives, sander and other hand tools.
  2. Can learn to assemble various accessories, components, and options to the apparatus in a proficient manner with no scrap or rework.
  3. Drill holes for attachments.
  4. Perform grinding with dye or desk grinder and sanding with a belt sander.
  5. Use saw to cut materials to specific lengths and/or enlarge holes.
  6. Apply labels.
  7. Operate hydraulic section lifts
  8. Assists with electrical daily functions.
  9. Keep track of parts that are used on each truck.
  10. Install catwalks, steps, grab handles, and compartment filters, running boards, etc.
  11. Abrade/DA parts and sharp edges.

Potential Hazards:

  1. Eye injuries: required to wear eye protection and face shield when sanding to prevent eye injuries.
  2. Trips, slips, & falls: ensure all air hoses and obstacles are kept clear of aisles. Use caution when climbing on and off trucks. Make sure all spills are cleaned up immediately. Do not leave tools, parts etc. on top of trucks. Be cautious of open doors, tools and racks that can easily be struck.
  3. Heavy lifting: ask co-worker for help or use a crane or forklift operator when lifting objects over 50 lbs. Do not walk under suspended parts and be cautious of co-workers when operating cranes.
  4. Cuts & burns: Use caution and wear PPE to prevent cuts when sanding or drilling.
