Job Description

Downer is seeking and Asphalt Supervisor to play a key role in driving safety, performance and delivery across asphalt operations. You will lead by example, ensuring Zero Harm is embedded in everything we do while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, organise and supervise asphalt works to meet safety, quality, time and cost objectives.
• Lead and mentor asphalt crews and subcontractors on site.
• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, company procedures and client requirements.
• Promote a strong Zero Harm culture, including hazard reporting, toolbox talks and training.
• Coordinate plant, labour and materials to maximise productivity and efficiency.
• Assist with work method statements, risk assessments and safety documentation.
• Monitor performance, identify skill gaps and support training and development.
• Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Engineers and customers.

ABOUT YOU

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in asphalt surfacing.
• Previous supervisory experience (highly regarded).
• Certificate III in Civil Construction (or equivalent) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of asphalt and bituminous surfacing techniques, profiling and traffic management.
• Sound understanding of WHS legislation and best practices.
• Mechanical knowledge of asphalt plant and equipment.
• Strong leadership, planning and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capability.
