Job Description

Operate computerized asphalt plant controls to weigh and deliver specified quantities of aggregate and asphalt cement, produce required mix designs, and load finished material onto trucks for weighing. Asphalt plant-specific operating experience is required.

LOCATION / SCHEDULE

  • Position is based in Mill Creek, Oklahoma.
  • Early day shift is typical, generally beginning around 5:00-6:00 a.m.

Schedule may vary by project; occasional nights, weekends, and extended shifts may be required.

COMPENSATION

Hourly rate: Pending client confirmation. Current recruiting guidance indicates total annual earnings including overtime may generally fall in the $80,000-$105,000 range, with potential up to approximately $125,000 depending on experience, overtime, and project schedule.

No bonus is currently indicated. These figures are not a guaranteed base salary or hourly rate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate computerized controls for both drum and batch asphalt plants.
  • Monitor plant operation throughout the workday and maintain safe operations around employees, drivers, and material deliveries.
  • Assist with plant maintenance and routine servicing.
  • Assist the Plant Foreman with ordering liquid asphalt, aggregates, materials, parts, trucks, and supplies needed to maintain production.
  • Maintain required time records and reports related to material produced and sold.
  • Support other plant functions as needed, including cold feed, loader or dozer operation at bins/stockpiles, and general facility cleanup.
  • Help prevent equipment damage and material waste through proper plant operation and handling.

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE

  • Asphalt plant-specific operating experience is required.
  • Approximately 1-3 years of relevant experience is generally needed to become familiar with mix design, manufacturing processes, and computerized plant operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to use basic math, formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, measuring instruments, computers, reports, forms, and production records.

PHYSICAL / WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Moderate physical demand, including occasional lifting of average to heavy materials, particularly during plant repairs.
  • Must be able to climb onto machinery and work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention and the ability to identify equipment noises that may indicate mechanical problems.
  • Industrial plant environment with exposure to noise, fumes, vibration, and dust.
