Mō te tūranga | About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Asphalt Paving Foreperson to lead from the front and keep work moving safely, smoothly and to a high standard. You’ll coordinate site crews, plant, materials and day-to-day surfacing activity, while staying hands-on when needed. Most of this work is nightshift, with day shift and weekend work required at times.

This is a role for someone who knows asphalt surfacing, can bring people together on site, and takes pride in delivering good work that is safe, efficient and built to last.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate asphalt and surfacing crews on site.
  • Organise daily work activities, labour, plant and materials.
  • Oversee paving and surfacing operations to meet plans, specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain strong health, safety and wellbeing standards, including pre-starts, toolbox talks and site documentation.
  • Keep jobs moving by working closely with supervisors, managers, subcontractors and other site teams.

Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We’re looking for someone with:

  • Proven experience in asphalt road surfacing and previous experience leading or supervising a surfacing crew.
  • Strong understanding of asphalt laying, compaction and finished surface quality requirements.
  • Confidence coordinating people, plant and materials in a fast-moving site environment.
  • Good communication skills, a practical hands-on approach, and a strong focus on health and safety.
  • Full Class 1 and Class 2 driver licences with WTR endorsement and additional licence classes would be an advantage.
