THE ROLE

As our Asia Marketing & PR Manager, you will be the architect of ALOHAS’ expansion into China and South Korea. Reporting to the Chief of Staff — Marketing & Sales, you will transform organic social media buzz into a structured growth engine. This is a foundational hire; you won't just follow a playbook, you will write it from our Barcelona HQ. Your mission is to bridge our Mediterranean essence with the vibrant digital ecosystems of East Asia.

YOUR CHALLENGE
  • Platform Ownership: Lead and manage our official presence on Xiaohongshu (Red Note), Douyin, WeChat, Weibo, and Korean channels like Naver and KakaoTalk.

  • Cultural Re-creation: Adapt global campaign assets for local audiences, ensuring cultural relevance beyond mere translation.

  • Content Strategy: Develop a localized content calendar that balances high-fashion storytelling with platform-specific trends.

  • Community Building: Manage daily engagement (comments, DMs, reposts) to foster a genuine ALOHAS community in Asia.

  • PR & Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with top-tier fashion editors at Vogue China, Elle Korea, Harper’s Bazaar Asia, and WWD Asia.

  • Press Management: Coordinate press samples and lookbooks tailored specifically for the Asian media landscape.

  • KOL/KOC Ecosystem: Identify and manage high-impact collaborations with influencers and "Key Opinion Consumers".

  • Influencer Execution: Oversee the end-to-end process of seeding, gifting, and paid partnerships.

  • Market Intelligence: Act as our internal expert on Asian digital trends, competitor activity, and consumer behavior.

  • Strategic Advisory: Provide data-driven insights to help evaluate future steps like Tmall Global, Douyin Shop, or localized e-commerce.

  • Cross-functional Bridge: Brief the creative and product teams on specific needs and platform formats for the Asian market.

  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on KPIs including engagement, followers, and traffic conversions.

YOU WILL ROCK AT THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE...
  • Native-level Mandarin or Korean (bilingual in both is a massive plus) and professional English.

  • 3-5 years of experience in digital marketing/social media specifically for the Asian market, ideally for a Western fashion or lifestyle brand.

  • Platform Expertise: Deep "hands-on" knowledge of Xiaohongshu, Douyin, or Naver algorithms and content formats.

  • Fashion DNA: A background in fashion, accessories, or sustainable lifestyle brands.

  • Content Skills: Ability to write compelling copy in Chinese/Korean and perform basic photo/video editing.

  • PR Network: Ability to build a network with Asian media outlets and fashion journalists.

  • Analytical Mindset: Proficiency in tracking campaign performance and extracting actionable insights.

  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: The autonomy to build a department from scratch and travel to Asia 2-3 times a year.

  • Location: You are based in Barcelona or willing to relocate to join us at HQ.

The history:

The brand was founded in 2015 in Honolulu, Hawaii by current CEO, Alejandro Porras. He was inspired by seeing locals react to his Avarcas, a popular type of sandal from Menorca, Spain, known for their simplicity and ease of use. He decided to talk business in Hawaii and began expanding not only his product offering but also his business sights.

Back to basics and looking to put a spin on the traditional Espadrille, our creative team works from our headquarters in Barcelona to design finely crafted shoes for rain or shine seasons, all produced by trusted artisans in nearby production facilities.

The brand has already strategically positioned itself in Moda Operandi, La Rinascente, Zalando, Revolve, The Iconic and El Corte Inglés, thus covering some of the largest and most exclusive online points of sale across different continents.

ALOHAS is well known for many of its IG collaborations and registered a 1.1 million turnover in 2018 (without investors). This was driven by its ongoing investments into logistics infrastructure and product diversification together with an ever growing online presence.
