Tulane University Law School invites nom inations and applications for the Ashton Phelps Chair in Constitutional Law. We seek an academ ic leader with a record of distinguished scholarship, excellence in teaching, and the dem onstrated capacity to direct a well-established program in their respective fields. The appointm ent will be m ade at the level of tenured, full professor.
The responsibilities of the chair holder include scholarly research and publication; classroom teaching; and participation in faculty governance. The chair holder is also expected to be actively engaged with faculty both within the Law School and throughout the University, providing leadership for integrative research activities and significant engagem ent with academ ic institutions and professional organizations in their respective fields. The chair holder is expected to provide leadership in term s of research, curriculum , and public engagem ent. Tulane Law School, with world-leading strength in environm ental, energy, m aritim e, as well as international and com parative law, provides the chair holder with the unique opportunity and support to lead and expand an already prom inent program in these areas. Com petitive salary comm ensurate with experience.
The qualifications required for the chair are:
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and/or Ph.D. (or equivalent doctoral degree) in Law
• Broad recognition for scholarly distinction
• Established publication record
• Clearly developed long term research agenda
• Extensive teaching experience
• Dem onstrated capacity for programm atic leadership
