Job Description

Maintenance Technician

Position Objective:

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of the entire facility, including the retail store, classrooms, offices, restrooms, and outdoor areas. This role performs and oversees general maintenance duties and custodial work, contributing to a welcoming and well-functioning environment for employees, customers, and program participants.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage routine maintenance and repairs related to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, floor care, and general facility upkeep.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment through daily custodial tasks across all areas of the facility, including restrooms, breakrooms, classrooms, retail spaces, offices, and outdoor/common areas.
  • Develop and maintain a preventive maintenance schedule for mechanical systems and building assets.
  • Respond promptly to facility-related service requests and maintenance needs.
  • Provide snow removal and basic groundskeeping as needed.
  • Monitor and support the security system and ensure facility safety protocols are followed.
  • Follow all organizational safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
  • Assist with room set-up and facility support for internal meetings and special events.
  • Maintain supply inventory and inform supervisor of needs in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of general maintenance or custodial experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of basic building systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and ability to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate projects or direct others when necessary.

Education

  • High School or GED.
