Have an exciting opportunity or a skilled Maintenance Foreperson to join our team based in Ashburton. In this role, you’ll lead a crew on sealed pavement maintenance and dig out work while also getting stuck in on the tools, including operating, helping us deliver safe, high-quality work that keeps our roads moving.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows how to run a site and isn’t afraid to jump in the cab when needed. You’ll lead day-to-day maintenance works across sealed pavements and dig outs, coordinate people, plant and materials, and make sure the job is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. It’s a role for someone who likes variety, backs their team, and takes pride in doing Good Work every day.

Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities

  • Lead your crew to deliver maintenance works safely, on time and to the required quality standard.
  • Operate plant and machinery, including 20 tonne excavators, to complete sealed pavement repairs and dig out works.
  • Coordinate labour, plant, subcontractors and suppliers to keep jobs moving and the site running smoothly.
  • Hold pre-starts and maintain a safe work environment for your team, subcontractors and the public.
  • Complete and oversee required site documentation.

  • Solid experience working in construction and maintenance or similar.
  • Proven experience leading site crews and communicating clearly on the job.
  • A current Class 2 licence, with WTR endorsement are essential; additional licence classes would be advantageous.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery, including excavators, in fast paced work environments.
  • The ability to read plans, think ahead, solve problems and keep delivery on track.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality and doing the job right when it counts.
  • A practical, reliable and team-focused approach.
