(ASD-W) - Community School Coordinator - Operations - Permanent

Position: Community School Coordinator - Operations

Serving Fredericton Education Centre & Oromocto Education Centre schools

Employment Type: Permanent

Union: Public Service Alliance of Canada Union (PSAC)

Salary: SBO 2 ($2038.00 – $2802.00) Bi-weekly

Location: Fredericton Education Centre

The position reports to the Community Engagement Coordinator-Operations and the Director of Finance and Administration on best practices and new partnerships developed so that the maintenance and growth of the community-based activities can be monitored at the district level.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with School Principals and the Community Engagement Coordinator to develop long-term strategic plans for local community, municipal, and business involvement with the schools
  • Develop volunteer recruitment strategies to support the schools with their needs
  • Promote, create, and coordinate community partnerships to support school needs
  • Identify the needs of the school and the available community resources
  • Research and apply for grants to support the needs of the schools
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration amongst area schools on educational and curricular programming
  • In cooperation with the District and Principals; acting as the prime liaison between the school and the community]

Qualifications:

  • Work at this level requires competency normally gained through the equivalent of a University Degree in a non-technical area, or a two (2) year Community College program supplemented by a minimum of four (4) years of related work experience.
  • Typical work at this level is done within well-defined, somewhat diversified procedures, with many precedents covering most situations and/or readily available assistance.

    Essential attributes include:

  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills-spoken (personable), written, and digitally literate.
  • Ability to identify and catalogue the needs of the school and available community resources in relation to community use of schools.
  • Ability or experience in writing grant proposals
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment with the key state holders and District staff.
  • Hours of work must be flexible, responding to the needs of the district, schools, and community, and may involve some evening and weekend work.

Salary: In accordance with the Public Service Alliance of Canada Union (PSAC), School Business Official 2 based on a minimum of 36.25 hrs/wk.
