Job Description

Job Title: Transporter/Medical Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant

Reports To: ASC Pre-Op/PACU Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Helps patients by transporting them into, around and out of the health care organization. Additionally, this position will be responsible for assisting medical staff as a Certified Medical Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. This position is part time 32 hours per week and shifts are 12:00 PM-6:30 PM Monday through Friday.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Verifies patient information; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
  • Monitor patient’s environmental safety (e.g., fall precautions faulty equipment, transmission precautions)
  • Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results
  • Ability to identify abnormal patient values for triages purposes
  • Document medical information using approved medical terminology.
  • Maintains surgical suite rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed.
  • Transports patients by assisting patients in and out of taxis, ambulances, and cars, lifting patients on and off beds; moving them to and from special service and treatment areas, and operating rooms; using wheelchairs or moveable beds.
  • Comforts patients and their families by offering support and encouragement; being punctual and attentive to procedure schedules; demonstrating caring and cultural sensitivity.
  • Transports equipment and supplies by picking-up requisitioned orders; delivering them to assigned treatment areas and patient care areas.
  • Transports laboratory specimens by picking-up specimens and delivering them to specified laboratory.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with federal and state legal regulations.
  • Work a flexible schedule based on company needs.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Manager to meet department needs

Requirements:

  • Must be a CMA or CNA
  • Must have up to date BLS certifications.
  • Customer Service, Customer Focus, Bedside Manner, Physical Fitness, Verbal Communication, Listening, Documentation Skills, Decision Making, Patient Services, Health Care Administration, Health Promotion and Maintenance.
  • Medical Assistant and patient transport experience preferred.
  • Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary
