Job Title: ASC Surgical Technologist - Full-Time

Locations: Must travel between both locations:

  • Town Center Ambulatory Surgery Center: 130 Town Center, Suite 130, Troy, MI 48084
  • Michigan Surgical Utica: 11051 Hall Road, Suite 100, Utica, MI 48317

Schedule: Monday – Friday (Five 8-hour shifts, approx. 40–42 hours per week) Position Type: Full-Time Call/Weekend Requirements: Absolutely NO ON-CALL and NO WEEKENDS

About the Role

Michigan Surgical is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our full-time clinical team. As an integral member of the surgical team, you will ensure the highest standard of patient care by providing and controlling the sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment required during surgical interventions.

This position offers an excellent quality of life with a steady Monday-through-Friday daylight schedule and no on-call rotations. To support our busy teams across both surgery centers, travel is required between our Troy and Utica locations.

Position Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 6 months of surgical experience is required.
  • Certifications: Active BLS certification is required. Surgical Technologist certification is preferred.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred.
  • Travel: Must have reliable transportation and willingness to travel/float between our Troy and Utica surgery centers as scheduled.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of aseptic principles, sterilization, and disinfection techniques. Ability to anticipate the surgeon's needs, remain calm under pressure, and speak up confidently regarding patient safety issues.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Surgical Technologist is an integral member of the surgical team and provides quality care to our patients. Care is rendered by providing and controlling the sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment required during surgical intervention. The technologist ensures that the instruments and supplies are cleaned, sterilized, and available when needed.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assembles supplies and equipment for surgical procedures. Opens sterile supplies and prepares for operative procedures.
  • Sets up table, instruments and supplies according to the type of surgical procedure.
  • Applies principles of asepsis. Demonstrates knowledge of sterilization and disinfection techniques.
  • Assists and anticipates the needs of the surgeon during procedure. Works within established scope of practice.
  • Utilizes universal precautions when providing patient care.
  • Decontaminates all equipment, instruments, and supplies according to procedures.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Assists with cleaning and maintenance of rooms, equipment, and furniture.
  • Assists with inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Supports and adheres to all company and Surgery Center policies and procedures, Codes of Conduct, Ethics, Compliance, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Participates in Best Practices, Quality/Risk Initiatives and other committees to improve patient care.
  • Keeps management informed of any malfunctions in instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.
  • Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
  • Current BLS Certification required.
