LOCATION:The Salvation Army -Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center - Phoenix, Arizona

STATUS:Exempt

Rate of Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

The Arts, Education & Camp Manager is responsible for the program development and daily operations of the Kroc Center’s Day Camp, Dance, Music, and Education programs which includes staffing, programming, scheduling, operations, and safety. This position will also oversee the state licensing process and adherence for day camp programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Education, Fine Arts, or related field or other combinations of education and experience may be accepted.
  • Minimum three years of experience programming youth activities including day camps and special interest classes.
  • Have successful experience in supervising and managing a professional staff and volunteers.
  • Minimum of three years of prior experience in supervising and managing staff.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in state licensed care programs.
  • Must be a person of high integrity and willing to support the mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Leadership skills, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to maintain a positive attitude and professional manner while interacting with Kroc employees, guests, and the general public.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to carry out multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • May be required to work flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings.
  • Valid driver license and insured transportation.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED required. If not current, certification must be obtained within two months of employment. Instructor certification preferred.
  • Required to pass a background history check.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As this position will directly support key programs and ministries of The Salvation Army, the Arts, Education & Camp Manager must be fully committed to the advancement of The Salvation Army’s Christian mission through the functions described below and in all aspects of his or her employment with the Salvation Army.

  • Responsible for daily management of and planning for the Day Camp, Music, Dance, and Education programs, including but not limited to budget, child safety, and human resources.
  • Schedule and coordinate program areas and resources for Day Camp, Music, Dance, and Education programs, ensuring adequate space and supplies to accommodate the number of participants.
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate staff members.
  • Conduct employee evaluations.
  • Serve as a Manager on Duty when needed.
  • Plan, organize, and implement staff training, including but not limited to orientation, protecting the mission (child safety), childhood development and education, and recreation.
  • Conduct customer surveys and regularly meet with the Marketing department to identify needs and growth opportunities for the programs under your care.
  • Maintain prescribed risk management standards to include certification, in-service training, and accident/incident report tracking.
  • Meet regularly with the Kroc Center Director to discuss the shared facility resources, budget, issues, and goals toward operating a fiscally responsible department.
  • Seek partnerships with community organizations to help bolster program offerings while minimizing costs.
  • Ensure state licensing guidelines are being met throughout the Center.
  • Manage approved program budgets and develop program budgets for administrative approval.
  • Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records, liability waivers, and contact information on all participants.
  • Other duties may be assigned related to this position.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate a telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
