Step into the world of creativity, community, and cultural impact as an Arts & Culture Intern at the Town of Erie! In this dynamic role, you’ll help bring vibrant arts programming to life—from early-stage planning to on-the-ground execution and promotion.
You’ll gain hands-on experience of public art, cultural programming, and event production, working alongside passionate staff, inspiring artists, dedicated community partners, and enthusiastic volunteers. Whether supporting live events, coordinating logistics, or helping amplify programs through outreach, you’ll play a meaningful role in shaping experiences that connect and energize the community.

Work Hours: Part-time;(Monday-Friday shifts) 15-20 hours per week
- Estimated start date of July 13 2026, for 260 total working hours.
- Schedule may vary depending on scheduled interviews and various events within the Town of Erie Parks & Recreation Department

Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and implementation of arts and cultural programs, workshops, and community events.
- Assist with planning and implementation of community art shows.
- Support on-site event logistics including setup, breakdown, check-in, and participant support.
- Collaborate with local artists, performers, and cultural organizations to enhance program offerings and community partnerships.
Administrative Duties
- Assist in maintaining public art inventory, condition reports, and maintenance schedules
- Assist with improving public art awareness to the community
- Assist with research on artists, cultural trends, grants, or best practices
- Assist with ongoing public art projects logistics, fabrication updates, and artist coordination
- Participate in Erie Public Art Collective meetings
Town Wide Expectations/Duties
- Serve as a professional ambassador of the Town by maintaining a professional image, a team-based collaborative approach, and high ethical standards.
- Complete all required trainings in a timely manner.
- Develop and accomplish goals and objectives to support the Department and Town mission.
Other/Miscellaneous
- Attend relevant advisory collective group or artist selection panel meetings as assigned.
- Perform related work as required and assigned.

QualificationsMinimum

Qualifications
- Obtained or in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Arts Administration, Fine Arts, Cultural Studies, Arts Education, Recreation, Public Administration, or a closely related field,
- or a minimum of 3–6 months related experience
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position can be considered.
