JOB SUMMARY

The Artisan Mechanic is responsible for carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and servicing of mechanical equipment, vehicles, machinery, and related systems within the property. The position ensures that all mechanical equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while maintaining high standards of workmanship and guest service.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years hotel of related work experience.

Skills and Knowledge

• Technical qualification, ITI, vocational certificate, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering / Motor Vehicle / Mechanical Maintenance.
• Previous experience as a mechanic, maintenance mechanic, or similar role, preferably in a hotel, resort, facilities, or industrial environment.
• Good knowledge of mechanical equipment, engines, pumps, motors, and mechanical components.
• Basic knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems is an advantage.
• Ability to read basic mechanical drawings and equipment manuals.
• Ability to use workshop tools and mechanical testing equipment safely.
• Welding and fabrication experience is an advantage.
• UAE driving licence is an advantage.

Education or Certification

SPECIFIC DUTIES

The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment and machinery.
• Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns.
• Maintain and repair hotel engineering equipment, workshop machinery, pumps, motors, compressors, generators, and other mechanical systems as assigned.
• Carry out servicing and basic mechanical repairs of company vehicles, utility vehicles, carts, and other equipment.
• Check and maintain engines, gearboxes, belts, bearings, pulleys, chains, shafts, couplings, brakes, and other mechanical components.
• Perform oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, belt adjustment, and other routine mechanical servicing.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair, replace, and reassemble defective mechanical components.
• Use hand tools, power tools, workshop equipment, and measuring instruments safely and correctly.
• Carry out welding, cutting, drilling, grinding, and basic fabrication work when required.
• Attend mechanical breakdowns promptly and minimize equipment downtime.
• Conduct regular inspections of mechanical equipment and report any defects or potential failures.
• Assist in maintaining swimming pool equipment, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, water pumps, and other property mechanical systems.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules and complete maintenance tasks within the required timeframe.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, spare parts used, equipment condition, and breakdowns.
• Ensure all repaired equipment is tested properly before returning it to operation.
• Maintain the workshop, tools, equipment, and working areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Follow hotel policies, engineering procedures, occupational health and safety requirements, and environmental standards.
• Support other Engineering team members and assist with projects, renovations, and improvement works as required.
• Respond to guest and operational requests professionally and provide timely maintenance support.
• Report major equipment defects, safety concerns, and required spare parts to the Engineering Supervisor or Chief Engineer.
• Participate in emergency response and after-hours maintenance duties when required.

Preventive Maintenance

• Follow the planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedule for all assigned mechanical equipment.
• Inspect equipment for abnormal noise, vibration, overheating, leakage, wear, and other signs of failure.
• Ensure proper lubrication and adjustment of mechanical equipment.
• Identify potential problems before they result in major breakdowns.
• Recommend replacement of worn or damaged components when necessary.
