LONG-TERM SUBSTITUTE ART TEACHER

Sanford Middle School

Position: Long-Term Substitute Art Teacher

Grade Levels: 5�8

Anticipated Dates: Approximately October 31, 2026 through the end of February 2027

Duration: Approximately three months

Pay Range: $214.88-$268.60/day

Sanford Middle School is seeking a patient, flexible, and student-centered educator to serve as a Long-Term Substitute Art Teacher for students in grades 5�8. This position will provide art instruction and support our students throughout the approximately three-month assignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging, developmentally appropriate art instruction for students in grades 5�8.
• Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
• Build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Follow established curriculum, classroom routines, and school expectations.
• Plan and deliver meaningful learning experiences that encourage creativity and student expression.
• Maintain appropriate classroom management and student expectations.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues and school administration.
• Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to support the needs of students and the school community.

Qualifications

• Current Maine teaching certification preferred; candidates who meet substitute teaching requirements are encouraged to apply.
• CHRC/fingerprinting required.
• Previous middle school experience and/or art teaching experience preferred.
• Experience working with students in grades 5�8 is desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Patient, positive, and student-centered approach.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and administration.
• Flexible and willing to adapt to the changing needs of a middle school environment.
