Competitive Salary Range that Outpaces DOE Scale: $75,000 to $110,000 per year, with potential flexibility based on experience
Terrific K-8 Art Teacher position in the NYC area beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. The position will join a highly collaborative and mission-driven school focused on meeting the academic and social-emotional needs of its 400+ students. The Art Teacher will have a passion for teaching and providing expertise in art education to a student population impacted by foster care or the child welfare system.
Responsibilities:
- Develop lesson plans that comply with standards and meet grade expectations and outcomes
- Provide instruction and expertise in the subject of art education
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to create lessons that are interdisciplinary
- Participate in staff development programs and opportunities
- Collect and evaluate academic data
- Evaluate students progress through a variety of assessments
Qualifications:
- Approximately 2+ years of relevant teaching experience in art
- Master's degree preferred, NYS teaching certification is a plus but not required
- Experience in a charter school environment is a plus
- Subject matter expert in art and art education
- Strong classroom management
- Mission-driven individual, passionate about teaching in underserved communities
