We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Art Instructor to join our team at the YMCA Healthy Living Center in South OKC. The Art Instructor will be responsible for teaching art classes to individuals with a variety of skill levels. The ideal candidate will have a passion for art, teaching, community building and will be able to create a positive and engaging learning environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and teach art classes to individuals of all skill levels
  • Develop creative lesson plans using a variety of mediums (drawing, painting, mixed media, fiber arts, etc.) that align with the YMCA's mission and values
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment that fosters creativity and self-expression
  • Provide individualized instruction and feedback to students
  • Prepare class materials and maintain a safe, clean and organized studio environment
  • Communicate with Y staff, students about class schedules, expectations, and upcoming projects
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must stay current in CPR/AED/O2 and First Aid, renewed annually. (Training provided by the Y, if needed)
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Previous experience teaching art classes to individuals of all ages and skill levels
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment while managing groups effectively
  • Knowledge of various art techniques and mediums
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
