Job Description

About:

Bloomingdale’s makes fashion personal and fun, aspirational yet approachable. Our mission is to guide and inspire our customers to make style a source of creative energy in their lives. We will always strive to make Bloomingdale’s like no other store in the world. Everyone plays a critical role to bring our mission to life. Regardless of position, we believe all colleagues have a voice and access to share their thoughts with every level of leadership. Our colleagues are passionate, driven, entrepreneurial and collaborative. We welcome and embrace diversity of background, thought and opinion while having a lot of fun along the way.

The Art Director ( Omni-Channel Creative) is responsible for the visual evolution of bloomingdales.com and our seasonal omni-channel campaigns. This role calls for a designer with a sharp eye and a contemporary perspective to support our senior art directors. You'll work at the intersection of brand heritage and cultural relevance — keeping our design language both recognizable and current.

The ideal candidate has strong taste, a genuine curiosity about culture and design, and the ability to translate strategy into clear, compelling visual storytelling. They're fluent in modern digital workflows and bring new ideas and energy to every touchpoint across the 360° campaign ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Conceptual & Design Excellence

  • Drive Visual Innovation: Introduce "of-the-moment" aesthetics that push visual boundaries while staying true to the Bloomingdale’s DNA.
  • 360° Campaign Development: Concept and execute integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, email, web, and paid media.
  • Digital-First Workflow: Use Figma to build responsive, mobile-first design systems that are scalable and visually polished.
  • Elevate Brand Expression: Apply expert typographic and branding skills to ensure every asset feels modern and aligned with our brand style guide.

Motion & Content Innovation

  • Motion Graphics: Use After Effects to develop motion design work, including kinetic type and animated campaign assets.
  • Integrate Emerging Workflows: Actively explore and incorporate AI tools into concepting and mood boarding to expand and accelerate the creative process.
  • Visual Research & Curation: Pull visual research across art, design, film, and fashion to inform and support concept development

Collaborative Leadership

  • Partnership: Support Senior Art Directors to refine concept presentations, including digital design and storytelling through wireframing.
  • Cross-Functional Synergy: Collaborate with Marketing and Merchandising teams to ensure all creative output aligns with business goals and product storytelling.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university or related experience
  • 4-6 years of direct design/art direction experience, preferably within fashion, lifestyle, luxury retail, or creative agency environments
  • Clear communicator who keeps collaborators informed and presents ideas with confidence
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
  • Strong motion design skills
  • Solid understanding of design, cultural, and marketing trends with fluency in fashion and lifestyle branding
  • Experience in content creation — including genAI tools, social campaigns, and digital content production
  • Print design experience is a plus.
  • Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically
  • Flexibility to adapt schedule based on department and company needs

Physical Requirements

  • Requires periods of walking, standing, communicating, reaching, crouching and climbing ladders
  • Frequent use of computers and other technology, necessary to perform job functions, including handheld equipment, cash register and ability to process register transactions
  • Frequently lift/move up to 25lbs
