Why This Role Matters

The Art Director for Global Marketing will help develop creative and marketing initiatives that are deemed to be global and sit largely outside regional marketing at Christie’s. Occasionally, they will be involved in high-value regional initiatives in partnership with regional creative directors. Regular responsibilities will include collaborating with internal business units such as Christie’s Art Finance and Private Sales, as well as working on regular projects with Restitution and Responsible Culture, amongst others In addition, the Art Director will drive one-off global initiatives that support all regions.

This role is responsible for the stewardship, development and implementation the Christie’s brand identity on a global scale. Such work involves oversight of brand identity on social media creative, auction-specific creative, business proposals and more. Reporting directly to the Head of Global Content, Creative and Social, this role is positioned to help evolve Christie’s and continue its legacy as an arbiter of culture and creativity.

The ideal candidate for this role is well-versed in digital creative and is comfortable with ideation and execution. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment is essential. Video and motion experience is a plus.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Work directly with Global Head of Creative, Content and Social to ensure all of our creative assets are in line with global brand standards. Including but not limited to, typefaces, templates, colors, etc.
  • Partner with regional creative directors (New York, EMEA, Paris, Hong Kong) to assist in the development of marketing creative, photoshoots and lot photography.
  • Drive global creative initiatives that set standards across our regional teams. Example projects may include but are not limited to social media franchises, sub-brand identities, printed materials.
  • Take an extremely active role in project management and oversight. The Global Art Director is expected to have insight and understanding into project statuses, timelines, etc. This will be managed in partnership with marketing and production support.
  • At times, act as liaison between our in-house experts and specialists to refine creative projects and respond to feedback appropriately.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Deep passion and interest in arts and culture and relevant preferable experience in marketing these areas.
  • Has a portfolio of work that demonstrates understanding of modern design principles.
  • Exceptional taste and eye for detail.
  • Strong interest in cultural moments, both relevant to the arts, but also across sustainability, diversity and inclusion and pop culture.
  • Solid understanding of high-end aesthetics and design.
  • Is able to identify solutions quickly and in sometimes unconventional ways.
  • Is highly-organized and comfortable supporting project management as needed. Familiarity with productivity tools (ex: Monday.com) is a plus.
  • A natural collaborator able to partner effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates efficiency amidst fast-moving timelines and is comfortable with multi-tasking and prioritizing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong presentation skills, and ability to articulate the objectives of creative.
  • Strong analytical skills.

Salary: $135,000.00 - $150,000.00
