Art Director, Brand & Marketing Design

About the Role

Finom is building a brand that European entrepreneurs recognise and trust, and right now the visual side of that brand needs an owner.

We are looking for an Art Director to lead our Marketing Design team and take ownership of Finom's visual identity end to end. Not marketing design in isolation: the brand system itself, the guidelines behind it, and how consistently it shows up everywhere Finom appears.

Our ambition brings with it a unique set of challenges. Your job will be twofold: raise the creative bar, and build the system that lets a team deliver at volume without the quality dropping.

Your first months will be as much about diagnosis as creation: auditing the existing identity, understanding where the current team and workflows are working or falling short, and putting the foundations in place for what comes next. From there, you'll help determine and lead the next evolution of Finom's visual identity.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will direct and mentor, and you will also design, setting the visual benchmark yourself, not just reviewing other people's work against it. You will work in close partnership with our VP of Product Design, so that the brand reads as one across marketing, product, and the entire brand experience.

Finom is building an AI-native production pipeline, and we want a creative leader who is already fluent in it. Not someone curious about AI, someone who has shipped with it and can design the workflows, quality gates and brand guardrails that make AI output genuinely good rather than merely fast.

What You Will Be Doing

• Own Finom's visual identity (the brand system, guidelines, design systems and documentation) and drive consistent adoption across every team and touchpoint, including teams that produce assets outside your own
• Set and hold the creative bar. Shape visual direction across channels and make consistency and quality non-negotiable
• Lead and develop the existing Marketing Design team, assess its capabilities and future shape, and determine where additional permanent, freelance or AI-enabled capacity is needed
• Define the design requirements for intake, briefing, prioritisation, SLAs and review, working with Brand Operations and Marketing Operations to turn them into scalable processes
• Design and direct high-quality visual and motion assets that bring the brand to life, personally setting the benchmark for the wider team
• Build the AI-native production pipeline: define where AI accelerates the work, where it doesn't, and what quality and brand-integrity gates it has to pass. Create the templates, systems and tools that let both designers and AI workflows execute independently
• Provide creative direction at the front of significant projects (the creative kickoff, the concept, the narrative) rather than reviewing work once it's already been produced
• Direct the creation of mood boards, design references, scamps, storyboards and animatics to communicate creative intent
• Partner with Marketing, Product, copywriters and strategists to develop campaigns across digital-first channels (social, web, video), with the ability to stretch into ATL where the moment calls for it
• Own projects from concept through delivery, and run multiple parallel workstreams without letting standards slip
• Build and present creative work to senior stakeholders, articulating rationale clearly enough to guide decisions
• Manage a flexible pool of freelance and external creative partners to absorb peaks in demand
• Act as guardian of the visual identity while continuously pushing where the brand can be braver

Who You Are

• A genuinely strong designer. Other designers respect your work and want to learn from you; that's the bar, and it isn't optional for this role
• Strong design taste, and able to articulate how it impacts the business. You can tell excellent from generic and explain precisely why, in terms a non-designer can act on
• A builder of process as much as a maker of work. You believe high volume and high quality are compatible, and you have the systems thinking to prove it
• Customer-obsessed in how you approach brand: your creative decisions trace back to what the audience actually responds to, not to internal taste
• Comfortable with ambiguity. Finom is moving fast, the setup is being built as you go, and you find that energising rather than exhausting
• A generous leader who elevates people, gives direct feedback, and turns good work into exceptional work
• Confident with senior stakeholders without becoming a bottleneck for them

Must-Haves

• 8+ years as a graphic or brand designer, ideally in fast-moving, brand-led environments
• 4+ years as a design leader with direct responsibility for a team of three or more
• Experience building customer-facing technology brands or consumer digital products at scale. Your portfolio should show how strong visual craft works alongside usability, clarity and commercial objectives
• A track record of building and evolving brand systems across campaigns, products or businesses, including ownership of key visual directions
• A standout portfolio showing strategic thinking, creativity and polished execution across visual design, motion, editorial, digital and social formats
• Clear examples of work where you led or directed other creatives
• Demonstrated AI design fluency, with evidence of AI-native production rather than occasional AI assistance: workflows you built, quality standards you set, output you shipped
• Experience creating scalable brand systems, templates, tools and guidelines that let other teams execute independently
• Expertise across Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma, with the ability to define efficient workflows and standards for a team
• A portfolio of shipped brand assets: campaign visuals, social graphics, presentation decks, event materials, marketing collateral
• Excellent communication skills and the judgement to influence at a senior level
• Fluent English

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in fintech or financial services
• Experience with sponsorship, partnership or event-led brand work at scale
• Motion design depth, or experience directing motion specialists
• Experience partnering closely with a product design function on a shared brand system
• Experience building and managing a freelance or external creative network
