Job Description

ABM is looking for a talented and experienced Art Director to join our brand team. The ideal candidate will be a visionary thinker with a strong sense of design and an excellent understanding of visual storytelling and creative strategy. As Art Director, you will help lead and inspire a team of designers, illustrators, and copywriters to deliver exceptional creative solutions that align with our brand strategy and business objectives.

Hybrid-Monday-Thursday in office

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creative Leadership & Design: Lead and create the conceptualization, design, and execution of high-impact B2B creative experiences across various channels, including digital, print, social media, and video for internal and external ABM audiences.
  • Team Management: Mentor, guide, and inspire a team of junior and mid-level designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Brand Development & Management: Ensure all creative output is aligned with the ABM brand’s visual identity and guidelines, maintaining a consistent and cohesive look and feel across all marketing materials. Maintain and evolve our brand guidelines. Help manage and direct photo and video shoots. Oversee our Brand Center and conduct Office Hours company-wide teaching sessions.
  • Copy Development: Works with brand strategist and copywriters to develop and enhance copy for various projects from campaigns to digital experiences.
  • Quality Management: Review and monitor the quality of finished artwork and conceptual materials produced by internal and freelance artists.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with ABM stakeholders and marketing strategists to understand their needs, present creative concepts, and revise work based on feedback.
  • Project Management: Oversee multiple projects from concept to completion, ensuring all deadlines are met, and the work meets the highest quality standards. Consult with the creative director, as well as copywriters, production, and account service personnel as necessary to achieve company objectives. Informs and advises the creative director on project needs including all creative and technical issues and requirements (hardware and software needs, upgrades, training, etc.).
  • Innovation: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, bringing new ideas and creative solutions to the table.
  • Strategic Thinking: Contribute to the development of creative strategies that support the overall marketing goals and objectives of the company.
  • Team Building: Consults with creative director and project management team regarding staffing needs. Recommends and directs freelancers/vendors.
  • Education and Development: Pursues ongoing professional development in design, creative strategy, and emerging industry practices; shares knowledge and facilitates creative strategy sessions that strengthen capabilities across the organization.
  • Reporting: Reports to creative director and ensures efficient visual execution of creative and digital projects assigned by creative director. Performs occasional additional duties as deemed appropriate by the creative director.
  • Brand Center: Leading technology advancements and taking ownership of key functions.
  • AI: Stay current on AI trends and apply emerging AI tools thoughtfully to enhance design quality, creative exploration, and workflow efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a creative or design role
  • A strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of creative work, including digital, print, social media, and video.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word), Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects) and Figma or other related web/interactive design tools.
  • Excellent understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and visual composition.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a proven ability to lead creative teams to deliver outstanding results.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate creative concepts and strategies to clients and team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar role within a company or agency.
  • Experience with motion graphics and video production.
  • Experience with web design, UX/UI principles, and digital marketing strategies.
