The Arena Booking & Sales Manager is responsible for seeking, maintaining and
executing business for the Orleans Arena Event Department and the Orleans Hotel Sales
Department. The primary duties of this position include coordinating event calendars,
maintaining event related rooming blocks, generating new business as well as
overseeing the execution of existing business for the areas of responsibility assigned.
Other duties include creating event pro formas, diagrams and manifests as well as
negotiating event contracts and other event related documents. Also, the position will
monitor rooming inventory, quote rates, develop rooming blocks and generate contracts
for events as well as sleeping rooms tied to any Arena events. This position will manage
one direct report (arena Secretary II) who will assist the Booking & Sales Manager in
their daily duties. Additionally, the position will develop and maintain relationships with
industry professionals, governing agencies, communication mediums, convention and
visitor authorities and the general public
• Develop, coordinate and manage the annual calendar of events for the facility.
• Negotiate and issue contracts for all confirmed events scheduled at the facility.
• Develop financial projections for events via pro formas and event budgets.
• Develop annual budget and forecasts for the calendar year including projections for
attendance and potential revenue.
• Analyze events and provide recommendations to the Executive Director.
• Establish, cultivate and maintain relationships with key industry professionals such
as promoters, agents and managers for related events.
• Maintain a balance of event types as to provide the best variety of entertainment
options for guests of the property as well as Boyd Gaming.
• Advise the Executive Director on current events and tours within the industry.
• Assist the Executive Director in developing facility reports and analysis.
• Successfully coordinate and fulfill all rooming requests for Orleans Arena events.
• Work closely with the Orleans Hotel Senior Sales Manager in establishing room
rates for certain Orleans Arena groups as well as monitor and manage inventory
(pick-up) on those blocks established.
• Attend various Hotel Sales Meetings to discuss status of existing blocks and how to
generate additional business for the property overall.
• Communicate relevant information regarding event rooming needs to all
departments involved and generate reports as required regarding sales status.
• Visit qualified customers on sales calls and attend trade shows, conferences and
conventions as directed by the Senior Sales Manager and/or the Arena Executive
Director.
• Other duties as assigned by either the Arena Executive Director or the Hotel Senior
Sales Manager.
