Area Supervisor

Location: North Walsham Hospital, Yarmouth road, North Walsham, NR28 9AP

Travel to cover sites across Holt, North Walsham, Aylsham, and Fakenham will be required.

Pay Rate: £27,130.95 per annum

Hours: Permanent. 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.

About the Role

G4S Facilities Management is seeking an Area Supervisor to join our team supporting Norfolk (NHS). The outline of the role is to supervise and co-ordinate the Soft Services facilities staff. The post will require a hands-on approach to activities in order to meet G4S' contractual service requirements and to the satisfaction of both G4S IS and the Client.

Key Responsibilities

• General Duties: Undertake cleaning duties as necessary, maintain patient dignity, travel to various Norfolk NHS sites, and ensure the team wears appropriate uniforms to protect the company image.
• Operational Readiness: Ensure all staff work safely, equipment is available and electrically tested annually, and any maintenance requirements or structural defects are immediately reported.
• Team Supervision: Supervise, assist, and provide cover for cleaning, portering, and catering staff while managing schedules, rotas, and timesheet information.
• Performance & Development: Implement operational plans to meet SLAs, handle staff training plans, control recruitment within budget, and conduct informal coaching to maintain high morale and performance.
• Operational Compliance: Ensure staff adhere to colour-coding protocols, utilize correct PPE, allocate all tasks appropriately, and maintain absolute confidentiality regarding patients.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act, log accidents or 'Near Misses,' disseminate theft reports, and apply firm knowledge of COSHH and food hygiene regulations.
• Quality Management & Audits: Produce SLA monitoring reports, conduct regular service audits across catering, cleaning, and portering, and maintain accurate records for ad-hoc quality audits.
• Stock & Resource Control: Monitor, manage, and complete administrative tracking for stock levels of cleaning consumables to order supplies directly as needed.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Walk around sites regularly to communicate with employees and Trust staff, attend divisional meetings, and design programs to optimize equipment, materials, and labor.

Essential:

• Excellent ability to follow instructions.

• Good interpersonal and customer service skills relevant to consumer contact.
• Measured movement speed.
• Must have a clean driving license.
• Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

Desirable:

• Maths and English GCSEs or equivalent.
• Food Handlers Certificate / Food Hygiene knowledge.
• Basic Health and Safety Certificate.
• Use of a car.
