Job Identification
The Area Sales Manager is accountable for managing and directing sales operations within an assigned geographic area to achieve agreed volume, revenue, market share, and execution objectives. The role entails leading and developing the sales team, strengthening customer and distributor relationships, ensuring effective route‑to‑market execution, and maintaining full compliance with company commercial policies, standards, and governance requirements.
Main Responsibilities
- Plan and implement Customer Sales Contracts, including a clear In‑Store Execution plan, aligned with company profit and UC targets.
- Negotiate discounts, deductions, and trade terms with customers to achieve UC, revenue, and sales targets while remaining competitive in the market.
- Manage and execute promotions and trade programs in line with revenue objectives and sales performance.
- Monitor market trends, shopper behavior, and industry best practices, translating insights into innovative and differentiated customer programs.
- Manage customer credit terms to meet targets and improve prior‑year performance.
- Drive product penetration and distribution growth using multiple execution techniques and motivation levers.
- Improve overall market execution standards, including RED score, cooler management, availability, visibility, and penetration metrics.
- Ensure excellence in in‑store execution (availability, visibility, pricing, and promotions).
- Develop and execute sales strategies and plans to achieve volume, revenue, market share, and distribution targets within the assigned area, including modern trade where applicable.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, and retailers.
- Lead, coach, and develop Sales Supervisors and Sales Representatives, including performance management, feedback sessions, training, and annual leave planning.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor execution quality, productivity, and selling standards.
- Track performance against KPIs and drive continuous improvement through data analysis using tools such as FIT, B2B, RED/SOVI.
- Collect customer and market feedback through surveys and regular follow‑ups, take corrective actions, and improve engagement scores.
- Use company sales systems (SAP / CRM) to monitor performance, submit reports, and support decision‑making.
- Monitor stock levels, returns, coolers, and company assets within the assigned area.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, trade terms, ethical standards, and governance requirements.
- Coordinate closely with Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing, and Customer Service teams to ensure business continuity and execution excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field
- More than 5 years of progressive sales experience, preferably in FMCG
- Proven experience in leading and developing sales teams
- Strong understanding of route‑to‑market, trade terms, promotions, and in‑store execution
- Solid experience in data analysis and KPI management using tools such as SAP, CRM, FIT, B2B, RED/SOVI
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship‑management skills
- Ability to analyze market trends, shopper behavior, and competitive dynamics
- Strong planning, problem‑solving, and decision‑making capabilities
- Good command of English (spoken and written)
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel within the assigned area
