Summary of Position
The Area Practice Manager is responsible for the operational performance and consistency of up to six dental practices within an assigned area. This role focuses on day-to-day execution, team leadership, and ensuring each office operates in alignment with company standards, budgets, and patient experience expectations.
The Area Practice Manager works closely with Practice Managers, Clinical Directors, and Doctors to support strong workflows, productive schedules, engaged teams, and positive financial results. This position serves as the primary non-clinical operations leader for assigned offices and acts as a coach and problem-solver to Practice Managers.
Success in this role is driven by visibility in offices, strong follow-through, people development, and operational discipline, rather than high-level regional strategy.

Key Responsibilities
1. Culture & Leadership
- Provide direct coaching and support to Practice Managers across assigned offices
- Maintain a positive, accountable, and collaborative working environment
- Reinforce company values and service standards consistently across all locations
- Conduct regular in-person and virtual check-ins with office leaders to review performance, priorities, and challenges
- Partner with Clinical Directors and Doctors to ensure alignment between clinical and operational goals
2. People Operations
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management of team members in partnership with Practice Managers
- Ensure staffing levels align with schedule demand and budget expectations
- Address employee relations concerns promptly and professionally
- Support retention efforts through coaching, engagement, and development
- Ensure training and onboarding processes are consistently executed across offices
3. Office Operations & Practice Management
- Oversee daily operations of assigned practices to ensure smooth workflows and adherence to policies and procedures
- Support Practice Managers in managing patient issues, escalations, and service recovery
- Ensure operational standards are applied consistently across all locations
- Review key operational reports and dashboards monthly with Practice Managers
- Identify operational gaps and provide hands-on support to correct them
4. Scheduling & Capacity Utilization
- Monitor provider and hygiene schedules to ensure optimal utilization
- Partner with Practice Managers to reduce open time, improve re-care scheduling, and maximize production opportunities
- Support schedule template optimization in alignment with provider needs
- Reinforce urgency and accountability around filling openings and managing cancellations
5. Financial & Performance Oversight
- Support Practice Managers in managing expenses, collections, and billing workflows within company guidelines
- Review monthly performance results, including production, collections, and key expense categories
- Hold Practice Managers accountable to budget expectations and performance goals
- Identify trends and collaborate with leadership on corrective action plans as needed
6. Continuous Improvement & Execution Support
- Identify best practices within assigned offices and help replicate them across the area
- Support implementation of new tools, workflows, and initiatives at the office level
- Participate in special projects as assigned, with a focus on execution rather than strategy design
- Partner with Marketing and Support Teams to implement local growth initiatives

QualificationsExperience, Education & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required; MBA preferred but not required
- Prior dental industry experience required
- 5+ years of experience managing teams in a multi-location, customer or patient-facing environment
- Proven ability to coach managers and support frontline teams
- Strong operational, organizational, and follow-through skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with frequent in-office presence
- Strong communication skills with the ability to address issues clearly and constructively
