Job Description

Company Description

The branches within this region are Alfreton, Cambridge, Norwich, Colchester, Berkhamsted and Ashford. Whilst a central location would be ideal we would welcome applications from candidates from across the region.

At JDP, we are the experts in civils drainage and water management. With an established branch network serving customers across the UK, JDP has a proud history and an exciting future. As we continue to grow and invest in our people, branches and services, we're looking for talented individuals who want to build their careers alongside the business.

Job Description

Lead Growth. Develop People. Shape the Future.

We are looking to appoint an experienced Regional Operations Manager to help drive performance, develop our branch network and support our long-term strategic plans.

This is not a traditional operational management role focused on day-to-day branch administration. Instead, you will act as a commercial coach, mentor and leader for approximately seven branches, empowering Branch Managers to take ownership of their businesses while providing the support, challenge and direction needed to achieve outstanding results.

The Role

As Regional Operations Manager, you will work closely with Branch Managers to develop high-performing branches that consistently deliver sales growth, strong margins and excellent customer service.

You will help identify opportunities, remove barriers to success and ensure every branch has clear plans in place to achieve both short-term targets and long-term growth.

Working alongside three other Regional Operations Managers, you will also contribute to a variety of strategic national projects that support the wider business and our continued expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a safety first environment - where H&S really is at the forefront of operations.
  • Drive sales revenue, gross profit and margin growth across your region.
  • Support branches in increasing customer footfall and improving customer retention and spend.
  • Develop strategies to win new customers and grow account portfolios.
  • Challenge and support Branch Managers to identify opportunities and address performance gaps.
  • Create a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and analyse branch performance, using data and insight to drive action.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of company standards, values and strategic objectives.
  • Lead and support regional initiatives that contribute to business growth and operational excellence, including the delivery of regional meetings to foster idea sharing and networking.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Sales, Operations, Commercial, HR and other support functions.

You'll act as a visible leader and ambassador for the business across your region.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

You may currently be an Area Manager, Regional Manager, Operations Manager, Senior Branch Manager or Commercial Manager within merchanting, construction products or a related sector. Most importantly, you'll be passionate about developing people and helping businesses grow.

You'll Bring

  • Proven experience leading multiple locations or business units.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering sales and profit growth.
  • The ability to coach, motivate and develop managers.
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills.
  • A collaborative approach and ability to build strong relationships across the business.
  • Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving ability.
  • Confidence analysing performance data and translating insight into action.
  • A willingness to travel extensively throughout your designated region.

Desirable

  • Experience within merchanting, construction products, civils, drainage, building materials or a related sector.
  • Experience supporting branch openings, relocations or large-scale business projects.

Additional Information

Benefits:

  • Enjoy a long-term career with a stable and growing UK company, proudly owned by a global group.
  • Receive a competitive salary that reflects your skills and contributions.
  • Secure your future with our contributory pension scheme.
  • Access full support and training to help you thrive in your role.
  • Non-Contractual Annual bonus
