Your Mission: Be the Commercial Pulse of the Trade!

We are currently seeking an Area Manager (f/m/d) to join our office in Hamburg at the earliest possible date.

As Area Manager for Short Sea Lines in Intra North Europe, you are the strategic link between the market and the vessel. You will drive pricing excellence, optimize vessel fill, and steer market competitiveness in your area. This is a role for someone who thrives on impact, ownership, and the fast rhythm of international trade.

Your voice will be central in market strategy. Your insights will influence sales, shape pricing, and define boarding priorities. You’ll collaborate with global agents, handle client quote requests with speed and precision, and keep the Line competitive, agile, and profitable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion and implement the Line’s commercial and pricing strategy across your assigned area
  • Be the go-to expert for agents and clients—answering quote requests, sharing insights, and shaping offers
  • Optimize vessel load factors and drive profitability across routes
  • Deliver continuous market and competitor intelligence
  • Track, analyze, and report key performance indicators for your region
  • Co-develop the area’s sales budget and deliver meaningful variance analyses with solutions
  • Contribute to priority setting for space and allocations, with your area expertise at the center
  • Keep a constant pulse on your markets and be proactive

Education & Skills:

  • A Master’s degree in Business, Transport, Logistics, or similar
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in a commercial, marketing, or pricing environment, ideally within the shipping or logistics industry
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken); other languages are a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel—you know your way around data
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: proactive, resourceful, and driven
  • A collaborative spirit, strong communication skills, and natural commercial intuition
