Job Purpose: To lead and manage condition monitoring practices, oil analysis, rotor balancing, and shaft alignment for rotating equipment across the refinery complex—including PP, CPP, and Marine units. The role ensures equipment reliability, supports turnaround and project requirements, and drives continuous improvement through advanced diagnostics, RCA, and technology upgrades.

  1. Planning & Budgeting
  • Formulate and manage annual plans and budgets to achieve targeted asset reliability at optimal cost.
  • Estimate and allocate resources required for maintenance and monitoring activities.
  1. Systems, Policies & Procedures
  • Implement departmental SOPs and ensure adherence to standardized working practices.
  • Promote awareness and compliance with Energy Management System (EnMS), including ISO 50001:2011/2018 standards.
  1. Condition Monitoring & Reliability
  • Develop and update condition monitoring schedules based on RCM criticality
  • Collect and analyze vibration and temperature data using tools like SKF Microlog, Vibxpert, SPM
  • Perform vibration diagnostics using software such as SKF Aptitude Analyst, Omnitrend, and SPM
  • Monitor supercritical rotary machines using System-1 (BHGE) and support fault diagnosis
  • Conduct offline shaft vibration analysis using Shinkava analyzers
  • Update equipment health status and generate recommendations in RCM-Meridium
  • Manage laser alignment, rotor balancing (in-situ and workshop), and lube oil centrifuging/filtration
  • Upgrade rotary equipment monitoring infrastructure with latest technologies
  1. Oil Sampling & Analysis
  • Schedule and manage oil sampling for critical rotating equipment
  • Coordinate lube oil analysis with external agencies and review health reports
  • Monitor supercritical machine oil systems and maintain lab inventory
  • Oversee calibration of condition monitoring instruments
  1. Online Vibration Monitoring
  • Monitor and analyze vibration data via System-1 (BHGE)
  • Perform transient and steady-state analysis including trend, spectrum, orbit, and shaft centerline evaluations
  1. Root Cause Analysis & Troubleshooting
  • Lead RCA for recurring failures and bad actors
  • Provide technical support during overhauls and critical maintenance
  • Recommend corrective actions and reliability improvements
  • Prepare monthly MIS/MPR reports
  1. Team Management & Development
  • Collaborate with area maintenance and operations teams to resolve rotary equipment issues
  • Mentor subordinates and prepare them for higher responsibilities
  • Conduct training sessions and skill gap analysis
  • Promote multiskilling and goal alignment with organizational objectives
  1. Safety & OHSMS
  • Ensure safe working conditions and enforce PPE compliance
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety training
  • Perform SSO and work permit audits across refinery units
  • Address safety audit recommendations within target timelines
  1. Environment & Energy Management
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 50001:2018 and promote energy awareness
  • Monitor and control EnPIs, baselines, and energy performance targets
  1. Process Safety Management
  • Apply PSM principles including Mechanical Integrity and Asset Reliability
  • Conduct Asset Criticality Assessments and implement inspection recommendations
  • Lead/participate in RCA and support safe commissioning of rotary equipment

Educational Qualifications & Certifications

  • BE in Mechanical Engineering
  • Certified Machine Diagnostic Specialist (Online Vibration Analysis)
  • Vibration Analyst Level II

Total Years of Experience

  • 15+ years total experience, with 10–12 years in condition monitoring and rotary equipment
  • Hands-on experience in refinery, petrochemical, or power plant environments
