This position is responsible for assisting with collaborative planning, organizing, and implementing all aspects of the Emergency Management program, as well as promoting and fostering positive internal and external relationships. Additionally, this position will act as a catalyst between the department and its customers, staff, and employees at all levels to ensure continuity and quality of service and care provided by Emergency Management. This position does not have any direct reports and has no responsibility for providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Manages the assigned service delivery area.
  • Leads emergency preparedness programs, including training, drills, and exercises.
  • Participates in on-call rotation, ensuring effective incident response, documentation, and follow-up actions.
  • Manages rounding processes, identifies deficiencies, and implements corrective actions.
  • Manages business continuity planning efforts and provide strategic guidance to department leadership.
  • Delivers emergency response training.
  • Conducts equipment maintenance and ensure readiness of emergency equipment, fleet, and supply inventory.
  • Contribute to specialized programs, committees, and readiness initiatives
  • Trains, develops, and communicates with staff.
  • Takes responsibility for financial stewardship in coordination with department leadership and organizational goals.
  • Achieves quality goals for assigned area.
  • Manages and promotes continuous process improvements in assigned area.
  • Provides staff feedback and coaching.
  • Manages conflict in a proactive manner and resolving them promptly.
  • Actively engages staff with updates and news, as well as involving staff in decisions and work teams. Provides feedback and recognition when appropriate.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing staff and/or processes.
  • Knowledge of the assigned department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan, and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors.
  • Demonstrated leadership, human relations, and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to function calmly and competently in high-stress situations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Four (4) years of progressively more responsible emergency management experience.
  • Completion of FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS) in Emergency Management Certificate within one (1) year of employment.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area of assignment, or the equivalency.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

  • This position involves light work that may exert up to 20 pounds regularly and may consistently require light work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects involving patient and employee safety. The incumbent plays a critical role in preparing the organization in case of an emergency or wide-spread disaster and will be a key team member in the event of a disruption of patient care or business services, which may involve environmental hazards.
