Area of Responsibility: Machine Shop, Paint, Welding, Assembly or Shipping & Receiving

Department: Operations

Reports to: Production Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Manages all activities to safely manufacture quality products according to our customers’ schedules. Responsible for continuously improving safety, quality, productivity, communications, morale and training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, assigns, and directs work.
  • Responsible for quality, safety practices and a high level of employee morale within the area.
  • Responsible for correcting product quality control issues.
  • Responsible for plant production goals.
  • Participates in the interviewing and hiring processes.
  • Conducts employee performance reviews.
  • Responsible for two-way communication with management and employees.
  • Addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Coordinates manufacturing activity with management.
  • Performs area tasks as needed.
  • Leads continuous improvement around safety, productivity, and quality
  • Maintaining a clean and safe plant.
  • Works in a safe manner at all times, ensuring all employees follow all safety guidelines.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages employees in the area of responsibility. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and costs related within this area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regular be exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.



Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment. Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have strong leadership skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Ability to perform simple tasks, such as typing a letter and using basic commands such as setting tabs, opening and closing files, and simple formulas. Prior experience with and computer and/or PC required. Word, Excel, Auto Cad and Intuitive ERP are used to complete the tasks of the job.

Weiler is a cutting-edge manufacturer with 340,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The facility is equipped with machining tools, welding, powder and wet paint and assembly, allowing Weiler to better control quality and delivery for the majority of their machine components.

The base designs for our self-propelled road wideners and asphalt windrow elevators were created by Barber-Greene, a company that was purchased by Caterpillar® in the early 1990s. Weiler purchased the designs from Cat® in 2005 and established the Weiler brand name. Since then, we have made updates based on input from our customers and introduced extensions to both lines as well as expanding the Weiler line by adding self propelled material transfer vehicles, a commercial paver, static rollers, tack distributors, highway class front mount screeds and rock drills.
