About OSLIt’s an exciting time to be at OSL, a people-focused company driven by strong client partnerships, innovation, business results and an entrepreneurial spirit. Our culture is our foundation. We value people, passion, honesty, respect and integrity, and we are looking for talented leaders who share those values and want to help us build high-performing programs.

About the RoleWe are seeking an Area Manager to lead the field execution of OSL’s Just Energy retail sales intercept program across Alberta. The program supports customer acquisition for electricity and natural gas solutions with dedicated sales teams engaging in-person in Walmart retail locations.

Reporting to the Director of Client Services, the Area Manager will lead Team Leads and Field Sales Representatives, oversee daily operations and workforce coverage, and build a disciplined, compliant and customer-focused sales culture.

Here’s Where You Come In

  • Lead, coach and develop Team Leads and Field Sales Representatives across Alberta, creating a motivating environment that supports achievement of sales, productivity and customer-experience targets.
  • Own day-to-day field execution across the Walmart location network, including workforce planning, scheduling, store coverage, deployment and shift support.
  • Drive performance toward program productivity goals through regular field visits, observation, coaching, role-play, action planning and follow-up.
  • Run weekly team huddles and leadership routines to review results, share best practices, address barriers and align priorities.
  • Monitor performance at the representative, store and regional levels; identify trends and implement recovery plans where results, coverage or compliance fall below expectations.
  • Partner with Just Energy, Walmart stakeholders and OSL leadership to support smooth program execution and a consistent in-store experience.
  • Ensure the team follows applicable sales processes, client requirements, retail operating standards, health and safety expectations, and OSL policies.
  • Partner with Training and client subject-matter experts to deliver onboarding, sales methodology, product knowledge, certification and ongoing learning.
  • Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding, equipment and asset coordination, uniforms, badges, access requests and related field-readiness requirements.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and Human Resources on recruiting, retention, employee relations, attendance, performance management and succession planning.
  • Maintain accurate reporting and communicate clear updates on sales performance, staffing, store activation, operational risks and corrective actions.
  • Support commission and compensation reporting, reconciliation and issue resolution in partnership with Finance, Payroll and Business Intelligence.
  • Manage travel and field activity efficiently across the assigned Alberta territory, balancing leadership visibility with business priorities.
  • Foster an open, collaborative and accountable culture while representing OSL and Just Energy with professionalism and integrity.

What Success Looks Like

  • Consistent activation and coverage across assigned Walmart locations in Alberta.
  • A stable, engaged field organization with strong leadership, reliable coverage and effective execution.
  • Clear performance routines, accurate reporting and timely action on staffing, sales, operational and compliance risks.
  • A strong customer experience and disciplined adherence to Just Energy, Walmart and OSL requirements.

Benefits of Joining the OSL Team

  • Competitive base annual salary $75,000-$85,000 with monthly performance bonus.
  • Comprehensive benefits including extended health, dental, RRSP and more.
  • Paid time off and career development opportunities.
  • Dedicated product, sales and leadership training.
  • Company-provided tools and technology required to perform the role.
  • Opportunity to help build and scale a new client program.

Do You Have the Keys to Success?

  • 3+ years of field sales leadership experience, ideally within retail, utilities, telecommunications, direct sales or another performance-driven customer acquisition environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-unit teams and coaching frontline leaders and sales representatives to improve results.
  • Strong knowledge of sales performance management, workforce planning, scheduling and field execution.
  • Comfort using data and reporting to identify trends, set priorities and hold teams accountable.
  • Experience working in a regulated or compliance-focused sales environment is an asset.
  • Strong communication, relationship-management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work across client, retailer and internal teams.
  • An entrepreneurial, hands-on leadership style and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced launch and growth environment.
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout Alberta, including regular in-store field visits.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a personal vehicle.
  • Flexibility to support a seven-day retail operation, including evenings and weekends based on business and promotional needs.
