Area Manager

Aberdeen

£44,919 - £47,283 per year

37.5 hours per week

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an Area Manager to join our Housing Service Team. The Area Manager will support the Housing Manager in delivering an effective housing management service to tenants across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.

This is a challenging and rewarding role, working closely with an immediate team of four Housing Assistants and a Welfare Rights Officer, as well as alongside eight Housing Officers. The ability to motivate and inspire staff, coupled with confidence in assessing risk and managing competing priorities, is essential to successfully meet the demands of the role. Strong and assertive communication skills are also required to effectively address queries and respond to tenancy issues.

The role of Area Manager will include:

  • Delivering a high quality housing management service by supporting the team to effectively manage workloads, including complex queries, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Responsible for ensuring all housing management activities comply with legislative and regulatory requirements, ensuring the provision of quality and safe homes for our customers and minimizing potential risks
  • Ensuring the effective management of all ASB (anti-social behaviour) cases in line with the policies and procedures
  • Managing complaints for the service area, focusing on first contact resolution and continuous service improvement
  • Line management duties include effective recruitment, motivation and performance management
  • Attending internal and external stakeholder meetings to support the business needs and ensure the service's views and perspectives are represented

Skills and experiences:

  • SVQ3 in relevant area
  • Strong knowledge of relevant housing legislation/law or qualification at an equivalent level is essential
  • Proven experience of delivering high quality tenancy services
  • Proven experience of working within a high demand customer focused environment, ideally dealing with the public
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, achieve deadlines and resolve complex issues effectively
  • A transformational leadership approach with a demonstrable record of motivating, developing and inspiring staff
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate confidently at all levels
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications - including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams (or equivalent), with experience of SAP
  • This role requires regular travel; therefore, a full and valid driving licence is essential
