Job Description

We are excited to add an Area Leader to our production team! This role is responsible for leading assigned team on a shift and daily basis. First level of escalation for daily issues. Responsible for assisting the team to achieve schedules and performance metrics for the area of control. Responsible for maintaining and improving standards and policies and driving continuous improvement while operating to Majestic values and guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Facilitates Team Start of Shift meeting and End of Shift review meeting for assigned areas and participates in other site communication meetings as necessary.
  2. Collaborates with other areas/teams to resolve issues.
  3. Ensures the area/team achieves all goals and objectives.
  4. Creates and provides training for associates as needed.
  5. Completes all required documentation or reporting as needed.
  6. Provides input to the supervisor on daily staffing, rotation, and scheduling decisions including coverage for breaks, lunches, etc.
  7. First line of escalation for any problems/issues.
  8. Completes safety observations and follows up to ensure safety related issues are resolved.
  9. Identifies and implements, by coordinating with other functional areas, continuous improvement activities that drive:
  • KPI's back to standard or better than standard;
  • Improved tooling/equipment performance; and
  • Improved work place organization and overall process flow improvements.
  1. Maintains and audits adherence to standard work among team members.
  2. Promotes and maintains a positive team atmosphere by coaching, recognizing and providing constructive feedback to the team.
  3. Provides input to Area Manager on associate performance and development.
  4. Fills in for absenteeism, PTO, or other shortages; provides relief when operators need to be away from their work area.
  5. Provides feedback on associate performance in assigned area and makes recommendations on employment activities including hiring, training, work assignments, transfer, promotion, discipline and termination.
  6. Other duties as assigned by the Area Manager or Plant Manager.

Education, Training and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in an industrial environment.
  • Computer proficiency with MS office or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements

  • Strong leadership competencies with the ability to demonstrate a systematic approach to problem solving.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead others and identify specific business improvement opportunities.
  • Operate assigned equipment in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
  • Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of experience in an industrial environment.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities.

Additional

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to stand 10 hours per day, in addition to walking, sitting, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
  • Be able to mount, dismount and operate powered industrial equipment.
  • Must be able to work in both hot and cold atmospheres depending on weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work outside normal business hours/days, as needed, which includes weekdays and weekends.
