In the role of Area Finance Manager for the Areas Europe North & Europe South, you will act as a strategic advisor to the Area Heads and the Regional Leadership Teams. Reporting to the Head of Finance Pharma International, this senior leadership role requires a deep financial background and the ability to translate business decisions into enterprise-wide financial impact while upholding the highest compliance standards. Your expertise will be crucial in guiding optimal resource allocation, identifying new business opportunities, and translating operational decisions into clear, enterprise-wide financial impact.
As a situational leader with a passion for developing high-performing teams, you will shape our financial future by leading, coaching, and developing the entire Europe North and Europe South finance organization, fostering a culture of inclusion, collaboration and empowered decision-making. Your leadership will extend to Affiliate Finance Managers, whom you will mentor and enable to drive impact, both locally and within the wider finance community, ensuring that your team's work directly supports our mission to bring our medicines to patients. You will drive success within your region while also playing a key role in the Pharma International Finance Network (FINET) and the broader finance community.
Strategic Enterprise Partnership: Act as a senior advisor to the Area Heads, influencing discussions beyond finance and identifying cross-border resource allocation opportunities to maximize Roche's value.
Business Strategy Delivery: Shape and deliver long-term business plans by applying deep market and commercial insights regarding pharmaceutical shifts and competitor actions, while connecting regional goals with the global strategic directions.
Regional Financial Oversight: Provide guidance and steer decisions to ensure P&L sustainability, financial integrity, and robust risk management across multiple affiliates.
Entrepreneurial Mindset: Applying an entrepreneurial mindset to steer business priorities with clear financial guidance to maximize value, while also establishing and overseeing all financial governance and risk management processes.
Leadership & Coaching: Serve as a coach to affiliate Finance Managers (dotted line), clearing obstacles and modeling VACC (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coach) leadership to drive an empowered culture.
Agile & Digital Leadership : Champion the adoption of AI and financial technology to enhance predictive insights, simplify cross-border reporting, and increase transparency.
Governance & Operational Excellence: Ensure high-quality compliance and robust governance of all Finance practices, maintaining a comprehensive view of the end-to-end value chain.
Navigating System Complexity : lead effectively in volatile, uncertain, networked and ambiguous environments through making sound decisions, managing risk, and maintaining clarity of vision through complex challenges.
Driving transformation: Drive change and transformational leadership across the region by embedding agile ways of working, creative leadership mindsets, and applying a rigorous focus on the highest impact and value work through collaboration

Proven Finance Leader: You hold a Bachelor’s degree (MBA or professional qualifications like CPA/CIMA preferred) and have a strong track record as an experienced Finance Manager or Head of Finance at the affiliate level.
Leadership & Coaching: Demonstrated interest and experience in coaching and developing other leaders, in line with our leadership commitments.
Global Mindset: You have lived and worked in more than one country, bringing a deep understanding of diverse cultural dynamics and international market shifts.
Strategic Influencer: You are skilled in stakeholder management and "influencing without authority," capable of articulating complex concepts to senior leadership to drive regional alignment.
Agile & Curious Learner: You possess the learning agility to explore other functions, the courage to challenge the status quo, and an entrepreneurial spirit to navigate complex organizations.

As this role covers the Europe Area and works closely with the global network of Pharma International (PI) it requires an estimated 30-40% traveling.
