The NYU Steinhardt Department of Media, Culture, and Communication seeks a part-time (20 hours per week) Archivist to support Marking Time, a project that fosters the role of art and artists in the social justice movement to end mass incarceration.
Led by Dr. Nicole R. Fleetwood, the Marking Time project aims to research, archive, exhibit, and amplify artists and activists in their efforts to transform prisons, criminalization, and policing in the United States. The Archivist will work with Dr. Fleetwood in all aspects of the project.

The position is a hybrid combination of remote and in-person work, with the in-person work occurring at the NYU Washington Square Campus. The position will include co-supervisory responsibilities for one graduate student researcher.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly pay range for this position is $35.00-$40.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Required Education: Master’s degree
Preferred Education: Ph.D.
Required Experience: Two or more years of related experience in art, creative expression, and activism.
