GENERAL SUMMARY
The Project Captain serves as a key technical and coordination leader within the architectural project team. This role supports the successful execution of architectural projects by overseeing the development of detailed, code‑compliant construction documents and ensuring seamless coordination among internal team members, consultants, and project stakeholders. Working under the direction of a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager, the Project Captain contributes to all phases of design and construction, maintaining a strong focus on technical accuracy, quality control, and project efficiency. The ideal candidate brings strong architectural knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

This position may supervisor junior staff.

Technical Production & Documentation
Develop, coordinate, and produce comprehensive contract documents that meet applicable building codes, zoning regulations, and project requirements.
Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using Revit and AutoCAD.
Review and verify the accuracy of shop drawings, submittals, and other contractor-provided documentation.
Ensure all project documentation aligns with firm standards, quality expectations, and regulatory compliance.
Coordination & Collaboration
Collaborate closely with engineering consultants, including Structural, MEP, Civil, and Geo‑Technical disciplines, to integrate technical requirements into project documents.
Support the Project Manager in coordinating project schedules, deliverables, and team workflows.
Communicate effectively with internal design teams, external consultants, and other project partners to resolve technical issues and maintain project momentum.
Construction Administration Support
Conduct periodic site visits to observe construction progress, verify compliance with design intent, and identify potential issues.
Assist in responding to RFIs, reviewing change orders, and supporting construction-phase documentation needs.
Participate in project meetings as required.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
Provide day‑to‑day guidance, technical direction, and mentorship to junior staff members.
Support the development of team skills and contribute to a collaborative, learning‑oriented studio environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong working knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting/approval processes.
Solid understanding of building systems and site-related requirements, including Structural, MEP, Civil, and Geo‑Technical components.
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong communication with project leadership.
Proficiency in current versions of Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to anticipate and address technical challenges.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture required.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial retail, mixed‑use, or multi‑family housing projects.
Architectural licensure preferred but not required.
Experience working in a collaborative architectural studio environment is a plus.

PAY TRANSPARENCY
Where required by applicable law, the pay range for this position is provided in the job posting. Compensation is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, education, internal equity, geographic location, and business needs. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and or benefits in accordance with applicable plans and policies.
PAYROLL
Employees paid on a bi-weekly basis, consisting of 26 pay periods annually, and is issued in arrears. Direct deposit is available.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work may be performed in a standard office setting, onsite at client locations, and or on active construction or project sites. Work environments may include exposure to weather conditions, uneven terrain, construction equipment, and other site-related conditions.
