Job Description

The Manager Architecture works closely with the Hydro Digital Technology leaders to define the vision, develop the strategy, and implement the data and Application architecture roadmap for GEV Hydro Power. The Architect is responsible for defining data and application management, standards and governance. The architect is a champion for data and application analysis and provides technical recommendations for the solution implementations.
In addition the architect will own one or several projects as a project manager based on the roadmap to support its execution.

Purpose:

The Manager Architecture works closely with the Hydro Digital Technology Domain leaders and D&A Leader, business leaders/partners to define the vision, develop the strategy, and implement the data and Application architecture roadmap for GEV Hydro Power. The Architect is responsible for defining data and application management, standards and governance and then transferring into execution with global delivery teams in agile mode. The architect will also have primary responsibility for ensuring our application team have the necessary information and guidance to implement data and application solutions. The architect is a champion for data and application analysis and provides technical recommendations for the solution implementations

In addition the architect will own one or several projects as a project manager based on the roadmap to support its execution.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Develop a global understanding of the DT Hydro application landscape and data flow architecture from pilar applications to key business reports.
    • Keep the Hydro architecture documentation up to date with all the latest architecture changes.
    • Identifies architecture design opportunities to accelerate productivity (costs, response time)
  • Collaborate with Vernova Architecture & Security Review Board to ensure standards, performance & cyber requirements are met.
  • Analyzes data & interfaces requirements interacting with business and Digital Team stakeholders and develops architectural propositions at project level
    • Leverage Data architecture standards used in GE Vernova for naming, describing, governing, managing, modeling, cleansing, enriching, transforming, moving, storing, searching, and delivering data, and propose adaptation to Hydro application landscape if relevant..
    • Develop technical designs and work closely with the GE Vernova architecture stakeholders to establish and validate data design requirements.
    • Propose development of delivery platforms that are service-oriented with reusable components that can be orchestrated together into different methods for different businesses.
  • Participates to architecture reviews and project design reviews providing recommendation and approving chosen technology and architecture, doing close follow-up of actions within our complex remote team organization.
  • Participates in the vision, strategy, and principles definition for data and application management in collaboration with Digital Technology hydro leadership team, Hydro & GE Vernova D&A Team, business, and Security teams.
  • Explore new technologies & innovations with external technology partners where applicable (eg Microsoft, Amazon etc..) and help bring in new/emerging technology ideas
  • Lead one or several projects as a project manager, based on the DT Roadmap, with the responsibility of its delivery on time and quality, interacting with the business stakeholders, ensuring project execution, coordinating with the development team, raising risks and managing communication across the impacted teams.

Qualification/Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with minimum years of experience 5 years

Min 5+ years of experience in digital projects design and architecture with implementation experience across several functions (Sales, Services, Finance, Engineering…) with 2+ year previous experience in a Digital Technology project design lead role and at least 2+ year in a Digital Technology architect role.

Project Methodology and IT domain strong knowledge: “agile”, “waterfall”, “lean”, “Saas”, “ITIL”, “ISO”…

Desired Characteristics:
• Curiosity and Appetite for innovation technology is appreciated.
• Experience on one of our pilar application as an architect role exposure (SAP ECC, Primavera P6, Salesforce.com, Datalake Redshift & Tableau technologies)

Demonstrated knowledge of Lean concepts and application (root cause analysis, waste identification…).

• Technical development skill background (SQL, JavaSCript)

• Experience in a project manager role.

• Able to develop a good understanding of the various business functions (finance, Sales, Services, Engineering…) processes.
• Able to articulate the value of what is most important to the business/customer to achieve outcomes.
• Able to produce functional area information in sufficient detail for cross-functional teams to utilize, using presentation and storytelling concepts.


Leadership:
• Demonstrated ability to work in an international, multi-cultural and respectful environment.
• Proven analytical and problem resolution skills

• Ability to influence through clear communication and build consensus with other Information Technology (IT) teams and leadership.
