As part of ISEC’s Technology and Engineering organization, the Architectural Woodwork Engineer is a “hands-on,” self-directed corporate role that proactively guides the production of engineering deliverables (2D and 3D as required) to support contract documents, design intent, and the shop floor drawings needed to meet submittal goals necessary to ensure accurate proposals and clean material releases from our suppliers. This person will have the passion and understanding to apply the appropriate Engineering Standard, Build Methods and information flow that produces a high-quality deliverable (efficient fabrication and installation) with a strong focus on improving the design phase and project outcomes. This person will help develop and sustain the best practices of ISEC’s Engineering program and will be responsible for instructing and guiding ISEC Engineering and project team’s deliverables. Ideal candidate will have intermediate to advanced knowledge of Architectural Woodwork Institute standards, Millwork Manufacturing, field installation and related common practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide pre-production instruction in the form of Details to instruct the production of submittal drawings.
• Give guidance and identify risk to assist in establishing an acceptance quality level (AQL) for each project that ISEC is awarded.
• Initiate the project startup, strategy, model set up, library, estimate the schedule and identification of project requirements.
• Reviews, interprets, clarifies and provides supplemental details to the supporting documents relative to the architectural drawings and entitlement.
• Suggests proper manpower and allocation of staff to meet all deliverables.
• Monitor progress of awarded projects and report progress.
• Oversee the content of the detail library; development and pallet hierarchy
• Develop and Document an Action Plan to support the Statement of work for each project
• Create the approach of all the awarded ISEC projects and present in strategy meetings
• Communicate with ISEC engineering and third-party engineering firms in the form of a Strategy meeting and kick off meeting.
• Communicate potential levels of risk per Mil spec 105e and PMBOK risk management.
• Uses 2D and 3D drawings to communicate project details to clearly communicate entitlement, decrease engineering labor, improve fabrication, decrease field labor, assembly time and field complications.
• Drives process improvements, best practices and new technology.
• Interface with IT Department for department needs.
• Ability to travel (including international) as needed
