Job Description

The Architectural Engineer will provide Engineering and Engineering Technician services required to develop, plan, program and execute Facilities, Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization projects. The Architectural Engineer will be responsible for working with internal departments and external parties on building and design projects, ensuring the structural and functional integrity of building structures and systems and identifying and solving design flaws. This position is considered contingent upon award.

Individuals must be able to attain and maintain a valid US Government security clearance to be retained in the position

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee multi-discipline construction and renovation projects, ensuring that costs, timelines, and safety regulations are strictly adhered to.
  • Perform in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Establish project goals by planning, organizing, and leading others in studies, designs, and construction projects, record and manage the processes and documentation.
  • Assisting team members with project objectives, budgets, and timelines.
  • Identifying and solving problems in building plans, prototypes, and structures.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships.
  • Prepare and review architectural plans, technical specifications, and design calculations to ensure they comply with Department of Defense (DoD) and Air Force criteria.
  • Assists with preparing Architect and Engineer (A&E) statements of work and monitors contractors to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Collaborates with base leadership, budget personnel, and other engineering disciplines to establish facility development.
  • Documented experience working with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and Cost Estimating Software.
  • Develop, maintain, and utilize databases as decision-making tools and in concert with geographical interface systems (GIS) as appropriate.
  • Participating in site visits.
  • Testing and evaluating building systems to find problems and improvements.
  • Reading, interpreting, and explaining complex technical documents.
  • Consulting with clients on building projects.
  • Supervise team of multi-disciplined team.
  • Manage training and certification of employees.
  • Must be detailed and safety oriented.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Architectural or Engineering in one of the following curriculums (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, or Architecture).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in thoroughly documented & relevant work experience) in construction & project management in a lead role may be considered as a substitute for the degree.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance.

Skill & Certification Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of industry trends, technology, codes, and regulations
  • The ability to diagram designs both manually and with computer-aided drafting
  • Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Cost Estimating Software
  • Good team working and communication skills.
  • An excellent working knowledge of science, mathematics, and engineering principles
  • Strong analytical, critical, and problem-solving skills.
