Arcadis' Romania office is seeking an experienced Architect/Interior Designer to join our dynamic Workplace team, contributing to a range of high-profile projects.

You will take full ownership of planning deliverables, from feasibility studies and blocking strategies to detailed layout development. You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including MEP and cost consultants, proactively resolve planning constraints, and ensure all outputs meet Arcadis standards and applicable codes.

As a senior member of the team, you will provide guidance to junior designers, review outputs prior to issue, and support project leads in maintaining delivery excellence across multiple fast-paced assignments.

You will also contribute to improving digital workflows, automation initiatives, and AI-enabled planning tools to enhance efficiency and consistency

Role accountabilities:

  • Embrace and demonstrate the Arcadis behavioral framework in your day-to-day work.

  • Deliver high-quality test fits and space plans withing agreed timelines and budget, ensuring accuracy, compliance with Client and Arcadis standards and relevant building codes.
  • Test-Fit Development: Generate rapid, high-level and detailed space planning options to assess feasibility, efficiency and client objectives.
  • Conduct Space Planning & programming: Analyze client headcount, department adjacencies, workflow requirements and future growth scenarios.
  • Ensure Code Compliance, develop layouts that comply with all local building codes, life safety regulations, ADA requirements, and BOMA standards.
  • Take ownership of your work by reviewing it carefully to ensure it meets the required standards before it’s shared with others.
  • Coordinate closely with MEP engineers to ensure the layout is technically feasible.
  • Support preliminary cost planning by providing accurate area schedules and furnitute layouts.
  • Collaborate closely with Workplace colleagues from other countries, primarily in the North America and China. As we adopt a One Team approach, clear and consistent communication is essential to maintaining the quality and integrity of our project outcomes.
  • Present design concepts and planning strategies clearly to both design and non-designer stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives including digital workflows, automation, and AI enables planning tools.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
  • 7 years + of experience, with a proven track record in Workplace design with strong expertise in blocking, stacking, and high volume test-fitting.
  • Proven ability to deliver accurate test fits within 24-48 hours under tight deadlines.
  • Revit knowledge is mandatory.
  • Experience with 3D visualization tools such as SketchUp, Enscape, Lumion or similar is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial building codes, ADA regulations, and BOMA standards.
  • Ability to maximize space efficiency while resolving layout constraints creatively.
  • Experience coordinating with MEP disciplines and cost team.
  • Client presentation and stakeholder coordination experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential to this role.
  • Previous experience on projects across North America and Asia is an advantage.
  • Strong command in written and spoken English is essential.
