Job Description

At AECOM, we’re delivering a better world.

It’s one thing to imagine a better world — but with AECOM, you’re part of the solution to deliver a better world. Our Sustainable Legacies strategy guides us in embedding sustainability and resilience in every aspect of our work, improving social outcomes for our clients and communities, and fostering a culture of inclusion, belonging and respect.

You’ll be joining a global team of over 50,000 professionals — planners, designers, engineers, scientists, consultants, program and construction managers — across geographies, including APAC such as China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

You will work on some of the most complex projects in the region — from bridges and rail lines that improve our daily commute, to water infrastructure and river restorations that provide clean water for all, and nature-positive developments that safeguard our people and our planet.

Join us in delivering a sustainable and equitable future.

AECOM is seeking a talented and motivated Architect to join our dynamic team in Shanghai, China. This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects for public and private clients. The ideal candidate will have strong design and technical expertise as well as a collaborative mindset.

What you’ll do

• Analyze project backgrounds and conduct requirement interpretation & summary.

• Formulate feasible design strategies and project development plans.

• Assist the Project Director and Project Manager in formulating project schedules and budget planning. Ensure strict implementation of approved project plans, take accountability for design quality and delivery progress, and collaborate with team members to complete all design deliverables.

• Independently produce construction drawings, presentation materials, design reports and all contractual design deliverables throughout project phases.

• Coordinate cross-disciplinary design work with internal AECOM teams, external consultants and suppliers.

• Conduct proofreading, review and iterative revision of all design documents.

• Senior-level candidates shall take charge of client communication & relationship management, daily team coordination, overall project delivery management, and resolution of complex technical design issues.

• Complete other ad-hoc assignments instructed by the line manager.

Qualifications

Meet the requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Architecture or related disciplines.

• Minimum 4-5 years of professional architectural design experience covering conceptual design, schematic design, design development and construction documentation. Experienced in mixed-use, residential, commercial office, retail, hospitality and public building projects. Proven experience in medium-to-large scale projects is highly preferred.

• Proficient in design tools including Revit, BIM, AutoCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, SketchUp, PKPM, Photoshop, InDesign; skilled in office & project management software including Microsoft Office, Project, Bluebeam and Acrobat.

• Excellent communication, coordination and teamwork skills to engage with internal teams and external clients.

• Highly organized, responsive, detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking under tight schedules.

• Fluent in both written and spoken Chinese and English.

Submission of a complete personal portfolio is mandatory for application.
